The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) has released a series of new videos as part of the Recycling is Real advocacy initiative. The videos highlight the efforts taking place at the Amcor Rigid Packaging facility in Chino, California, to ensure that bottles made from polyethylene terephthalate, or PET, are 100% recyclable and can be made with up to 100% recycled content.

Since its launch in 2023, PLASTICS’ Recycling is Real campaign has highlighted mechanical and advanced recycling facilities throughout the United States. Employees in each video, who represent the recycling industry and the work that they do are featured at locations including Atlanta, GA; Kingsport, TN; Madison, WI; North Vernon, IN; Baton Rouge, LA; Portland, PA; Eagle Rock, VA; Rialto, CA; Wytheville, VA; Piqua, OH; Reidsville, NC; Tampa, FL; and Farmingdale, NY.

“Recycling is real, and facilities like Amcor Rigid Packaging’s in Chino, California, do it every day,” said PLASTICS’ President and CEO Matt Seaholm. “In 2025, the Recycling is Real campaign will continue to show the public and lawmakers that recycling is undeniable and is a feasible and economical way to achieve a more circular economy.”

“We are proud to be among the industry leaders when it comes to using PCR, converting more than 400 million pounds of recycled content last year,” says Kristin Kelley, Vice President, Corp. Communications & External Affairs for Amcor Rigid Packaging. “And with brands continuing to work towards reducing their environmental footprint, consumers actively looking for items packaged in recycled material, and legislative initiatives driving change, our need for recycled material is only going to increase. We know that recycling is real. Our people make it happen every day, and it is showcased with every package we produce.”

The Recycling is Real campaign provides content to help elected officials and policymakers understand that recycling is a vital link of the sustainability and circularity chain, enabling them to make well-informed decisions about recycling resources for their constituents.

The Recycling is Real campaign was also created in an effort to put an end to false narratives suggesting recycling is not actually happening or claiming that recycling is a “myth.” Recycling has come under attack from those seeking to reduce or eliminate the production of plastic altogether. Recycling is Real shows how recycling happens, where it happens and introduces the people who make it happen.
