FCA US LLC has awarded Johnson Controls two Qualitas Awards: the Diversity Supplier Development Supplier of the Year; and Technical Cost Reduction (TCR) Supplier of the Year.

FCA US recognized Johnson Controls and other top-performing suppliers for showing extraordinary commitment in key areas such as quality, innovation, continuous improvement, diversity and FCA Foundational Principles.

“Johnson Controls promotes an environment in which everyone values the differences among our employees, customers and communities,” said Beda Bolzenius, president of Johnson Controls Automotive Experience and vice chairman Johnson Controls Asia Pacific. “This recognition is a testament to our company’s commitment to diversity internally and externally.”

The Diversity Supplier Development Supplier of the Year Award is given to a supplier that showcases an exceptional commitment to mentoring, developing and investing in diversity suppliers within its own supply chain. Johnson Controls was recognized for its outstanding accomplishments, including company representatives serving as board members on 12 national and regional supplier development councils, having more than 20 affinity network chapters that support diverse employees, and encouraging diverse suppliers to participate in joint ventures, strategic alliances or acquisitions in order to provide new technology.

Johnson Controls was also honored as the Technical Cost Reduction (TCR) Supplier of the Year for surpassing its TCR goals in its Seating and Interiors businesses and receiving a high score on its TCR Certification.

The company represented 10 percent of the total FCA supplier-generated and implemented TCR ideas in 2014 and drove the highest number and value of supplier-generated TCR to implementation last year.

“It is extremely important to us to celebrate the achievements of our suppliers,” said Tom Finelli, head of North America Group Purchasing, FCA US. “Their success is our success. Our goal is to cultivate a thriving, innovative supply base that shares our values and can grow alongside us.”

Award recipients were determined based on an evaluation of each company’s External Balanced Scorecard performance in 2014 – a rating system that evaluates supplier performance in areas such as quality, delivery, cost, warranty and partnership, as well as input from FCA senior leadership.
