Columbus professional earns IWLA Qualified Logistics Professional Designation

IWLA, the resource for warehouse logistics, recently awarded the Qualified Warehouse Logistics Professional (QWLP) designation to Troy Cochran, rate analyst at ODW Logistics based in Columbus, Ohio. He received formal recognition March 10 during the IWLA Convention & Expo in Savannah, Ga.

“Troy Cochran has a long track record in the warehouse logistics industry and is dedicated to continuously improving his professional development and skillset,” says IWLA President & CEO Steve DeHaan. “He leads by example of how self-improvement is possible at every level of your career.”   Cochran contributes to IWLA educational programming as a volunteer leader in program development, topic creation, and speaker identification. He is co-chair of the 2015 IWLA Economics of Warehousing & 3PL Sales Course Planning Committee (May 13-15 in Niagara, Falls, N.Y.) and member of the 2015 IWLA Technology & Operations Solutions for Warehousing Conference Planning Committee.

Having worked at UPS in a number of account executive positions over the course of 17 years, in 2002 Cochran transitioned to the consulting firm Insource Spend Management Group as a manager. He joined ODW as a contractor in 2013 and specializes in small package analysis and auditing.   The International Warehouse Logistics Association created the three-tier Warehouse Logistics Professional Program to recognize warehouse logistics professionals who achieve standards of excellence. Becoming a QWLP is the first step: next is “Certified” followed by “Executive.”

To earn a QWLP, individuals must attend the IWLA Essentials of Warehousing Course (a four-day course that covers an array of warehouse management topics). In addition, QWLP candidates must complete another IWLA educational course that more deeply covers a specific area (economics, safety, law, technology, etc.). Candidates must possess at least one year experience in the industry and participate in another online educational program from IWLA.   The International Warehouse Logistics Association’s Qualified Warehouse Logistics Professional program is designed specifically for the warehouse logistics professional and is recognized by hundreds of companies.
