Performance Freight Systems turns 70,000 pallets/month with new WMS

Accellos announced a new case study on AccellosOne Warehouse Management System for 3PL customer, Performance Freight Systems. The California-based third party logistics company implemented the Accellos solution to accommodate the requirements of a large national bottled water company. Now PFS often turns 70,000 pallets in a month and up to 150 truckloads in 24 hours.

Company
Ontario, California-based Performance Freight Systems reinvented itself multiple times before adopting its current business model, which combines freight forwarding and third party logistics operations. Starting in a small mini-mall office, the company now operates up to 500,000 square feet of warehouse space.

Situation
PFS entered the 3PL field to serve a large Southern California bottled water company, quickly recognizing that many other companies also wished to outsource burdensome logistics functions in order to concentrate more fully on core operations.  As the 3PL side of the company’s business grew, it became apparent that dedicated logistics management software was called for.

Solution
PFS management examined the offerings of several leading 3PL solutions, settling on AccellosOne Warehouse Management System for 3PL. Cost and ease of use were key decision factors, along with configuration flexibility and compatibility with PFS’ objectives. Moreover, management felt that Accellos was in the best position to provide the level of attention the company desired.

Product
AccellosOne WMS for 3PL creates a dynamic environment that allows multiple clients operating in a single facility, or multiple networked facilities, to be served with their own unique set of rules. It allows 3PL operators to provide high-level customer service at low cost; reduce labor costs while tracking the productivity of each customer and employee; bill and track every billable activity of every client to fine detail; provide repeatable 100 percent customer-compliant service that is unique to each – all while asserting precise control over each client’s inventory.

Results
PFS now routinely turns 70,000 pallets in a month and with a faster, more efficient warehouse, it services up to 150 truckloads in 24 hours. AccellosOne WMS for 3PL has led to better revenue capture as well as stricter control over customer inventory. PFS feels that it is well positioned for further growth via new accounts and by converting freight forwarding clients to 3PL customers.

“AccellosOne WMS for 3PL proved its effectiveness with our largest account,” says Susie Christiansen, Presidents and CEO of PFS, “Our experience with the software to date has given us a good foundation for going forward.” “We are very pleased with PFS’s results in becoming faster and more efficient,” says Chad Collins, General Manager and CMO of Accellos, “With our solution configuration flexibility and customer operations capabilities; we are excited to see PFS achieve better revenue capture and control over inventory.”  The full case study is available at:  http://www.accellos.com/casestudies/performance-freight-systems-wms-for-3pl-case-study/
