UTi Worldwide Inc. recently opened a new global hub and freight forwarding facility in the Houston area with special capabilities centered on the energy sector.

“UTi expanded our global Energy, Mining + Projects (EMP) presence in Houston because we understand the special requirements of oil and gas clients and wanted to be in close proximity to better service the major players in this sector,” said Bruce Hulings, global vice president, Energy, Mining + Projects.

“UTi sees the energy sector as a high potential growth opportunity and as such has invested resources in growing this vertical market,” said Hulings, “Besides this Houston facility, we established regional offices in key global markets where energy exploration and drilling is centered. Our expertise in managing oil and gas supply chains is among the best in our industry.”

Located in Houston, Texas, close to Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), this unique facility was designed with specific emphasis on features suited to oil and gas clients. The new TSA compliant facility, triple the size of its predecessor, includes best-in-class security technology, and a laydown yard for staging oversized equipment. Additionally, UTi has hazmat trained employees. These and other developments have better enabled UTi to meet the expanded needs of our clients and position ourselves for future growth, according to Hulings.

“We recognize the unique needs of the Houston market, and built out this multi-purpose logistics facility that brings together the best of our project logistics, air, ocean and brokerage operations under one roof,” said Ed Feitzinger, UTi executive vice president, Global Operations.  “Additionally, we located our Global Ocean Charter Desk at this location to serve our clients enterprise-wide and interface efficiently with our EMP team since the need for special ocean charters is greater for these clients.”

“The Energy, Mining + Projects supply chain team has decades experience delivering quantified value in the industry and are eager to grow alongside our client partners” said Hulings.

The facility is located at 16680 Air Center Blvd, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77032.
