Robert Hillman and Kaiwen Cheng have new roles
Queen City Robotics Alliance is pleased to announce a leadership transition for two of our board members – Robert Hillman and Kaiwen Cheng. This change went into effect on September 5.
Robert Hillman, founder and managing partner of RLH Consulting, will begin serving as QCRA’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). His expertise will aid QCRA in two critical areas – securing financial resources and expanding our outreach programs. He will also take an active role in operations and program delivery.

Longtime leader Kaiwen Cheng – who began serving QCRA in 2018 – will continue serving through his new role as Chief Financial and Marketing Officer with a focus on the organization’s finances and marketing and branding along with supporting Hillman as he begins his new role. Cheng will also continue leading QCRA as the Charlotte host of the NASA International Space Apps Challenge, which will be held this year at Sullenberger Aviation Museum October 4-5.
“This timely transition is a vital step in improving the long-term sustainability of QCRA,” said Cheng, “ensuring that we can continue providing transformative opportunities for students, families, and the community for years to come. As always, we emphasize that QCRA is built to help families share the cost benefits of operating as a community rather than as individuals. This model would not work without the dedication of our volunteers, mentors, donors, and sponsors who make everything possible.”
