NMHG donates $28,900 to United Way of Pitt County

NACCO Materials Handling Group, Inc. (NMHG) has donated $28,900 to the United Way of Pitt County based on the number of three-point baskets scored by the East Carolina University (ECU) basketball team during the 2013-2014 season. At the final regular-season ECU home basketball game against the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on Feb. 27, NMHG presented the United Way of Pitt County with a check for $23,400 based on the number of three-pointers made to that point. NMHG representative Joe Suttman presented the check to Jim Cieslar and John Bacon from the United Way of Pitt County.

ECU scored 55 three-pointers during the 2013-2014 season and Conference USA tournament, bringing the NMHG United Way donation to $28,900. NMHG is in its fourth year working with ECU athletics to benefit the United Way and has donated over $355,000 through the program to date. “ECU basketball came through with a lot of three-pointers this season, resulting in a slam dunk for the United Way of Pitt County,” said Brett Schemerhorn, vice president of marketing for NMHG. “With basketball season complete, and baseball underway, we’re looking forward to the number of homeruns the ECU baseball team can achieve, helping NMHG further contribute to the United Way in support of our community.”
