On Thursday, December 22, 2016 the staff from Material Handling Supply (MHS) will be joined by the Philly Phanatic to present a check for $15,000 to the Hill family of Medford, NJ. MHS raised additional donations funded by Lee Newman Clothing in Cherry Hill, AVC Media in Woodbury, Supermarkets of Cherry Hill, and Deana Poole – Radio Account Manager from 97.5.

The presentation will take place at the MHS headquarters located at 6965 Airport Highway, Pennsauken, NJ starting at 4:15 pm.

In 2014, 13 year old Danny Hill was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma which is a type of cancer that starts in the bones. Danny has gone into remission several times but each time the cancer returns to a different part of his body. Recently, Danny had two surgeries where several tumors were removed from his lungs.

Danny’s parents, Ann and Gary Hill are both local educators. Ann is a teacher at Taunton Forge Elementary School in Medford and Gary is a Guidance Counselor at Shawnee High School. The Hill’s have four children, Grace who is a Senior in high school, Molly Cate who is in 7th grade, Charlotte who is in first grade and Danny.

Brett Levin, Material Handling Supply’s Vice President states, “The Hills are well known in Medford because they have selflessly dedicated their lives to the welfare and success of children in the community. Now more than ever, they need the community’s help.”

Last year, MHS created a holiday fundraising campaign. They decided that between November 15 and December 15, MHS would donate $100 for every forklift they sell in an effort to raise money for a local needy family or institution. In 2015, they successfully raised $17,000.00 for the Voorhees Pediatric Facility at 1304 Laurel Oak Road in Voorhees, NJ.

According to Levin, “This year, I chose the Hill family because their situation is hitting very close to home for me. Ann Hill was my daughter’s first grade teacher and still today, she says Mrs. Hill was her favorite teacher of all time. I can’t imagine dealing with their situation. Having four children, taking care of a sick child, juggling work and time off to manage it all and then trying to face the holidays and having to figure out how to send a kid to college. It has to be so overwhelming and I just needed to do something to help.”

Since last year, MHS has raised over $50,000 for different non-profit organizations including Voorhees Pediatric Facility, Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Joseph’s House of Camden.

Levin adds, “As much as my brother Andy and I try to build a successful business, it is just as important for us to build a culture within the business to give back to the community. There are so many people in need right here in our own backyard and MHS is in a position to help and together with our staff that is what we will be doing for years to come.”
