LEGACY Supply Chain Services unveils "Vets to WERC"

LEGACY Supply Chain Services has signed on at the Champion Sponsor level of the Warehousing Education and Research Council’s (WERC) 39th Annual Conference for Logistics Professionals. At this year’s WERC Conference, LEGACY will be unveiling a new program—”Vets to WERC”- that promotes hiring veterans into the supply chain industry. The Conference will be held in Providence, Rhode Island at the Rhode Island Convention Center on May 15-18, 2016 and includes three days packed with educational sessions. The annual event routinely draws nearly 1,100 senior-level warehousing, logistics and supply chain professionals.

LEGACY, a top-ranked, full-service third party logistics (3PL) provider that manages more than 6 million square feet of warehouse space in 50 locations throughout the United States and Canada, has been involved with WERC since 2000. The company regularly sponsors the WERC Conference, as well as has key members of its leadership team serve on the WERC Board of Directors (currently LEGACY Senior Vice President Andy Dishner is a WERC Director at Large).

“LEGACY has long been a supporter of the WERC Conference due to the recognized thought leadership value WERC brings to the supply chain industry,” explains Kyle Krug, LEGACY’s Director of Marketing Communications.

During the WERC Conference sessions, subject matter experts share industry-specific ideas for actionable strategies to improve processes and operations in a variety of topic areas—metrics, outsourcing, people, transportation, reverse logistics, real estate and more—in industries such as retail, healthcare / pharmaceutical and manufacturing. The Conference also includes off-site facility tours, intimate and relaxed networking, and a Solutions Center featuring the latest innovative products and solutions.

“This year, we saw an opportunity to create a program with WERC that focuses greater attention to the value that military veterans can bring to companies in the warehousing, logistics and supply chain fields,” Krug continues. “LEGACY is honored to be the founding sponsor of the Vets to WERC program, along with our program partners DC Velocity and the WERC organization. The Vets to WERC program will create awareness of the natural alignment between returning military veterans with supply chain and logistics experience and the need for talented professionals in the supply chain industry.”

Registration can be accessed at www.werc.org/2016. “Early Bird” Conference registration fees are in effect until April 1, 2016, with additional discounts extended to WERC members who are industry practitioners or full-time educators. Non-members of WERC are also welcomed to the event.

Persons needing assistance in convincing their managers to agree to Conference participation can access a complete package of Budget and Planning Tools that provide supporting documentation about the benefits of attendance. Included are a personal request letter and worksheet, an overview of confirmed topics and session titles, a list of the companies that send attendees to Conference, and an estimate of travel and registration costs.
