H&K Equipment announces the passing of an industry leader

Listen to this article

H&K Equipment, headquartered in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, announces with deep sorrow the passing of Richard A. Rich on December 22, 2025, at the age of 71.

For more than 27 years, Rich was a cornerstone of H&K Equipment and a highly respected leader within the forklift and material handling industry. Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished sales professionals in the business, he built lasting relationships with customers, manufacturers, and partners across the United States and beyond.

Rich possessed an exceptional understanding of forklifts, industrial equipment, and the operational challenges faced by end users. He was known for his tireless work ethic, unwavering commitment to customer success, and rare ability to match the right equipment solutions to real-world applications. Long before online equipment sales became commonplace, Rich was a forward-thinking innovator who helped pioneer digital sales platforms that reshaped how material handling equipment is bought and sold.

Yet, his greatest impact extended far beyond equipment transactions. Rich believed that success in this industry was measured by helping others succeed. He had an extraordinary memory not only for machines, specifications, and applications, but for people—their families, their goals, and the challenges they faced. To many, he was a trusted advisor; to others, a mentor and partner; to all, a genuine friend.

Rich brought the same dedication he had for the industry to his family, including his beloved wife Bonnie, his son Alan, and his extended family. That devotion was reflected in every interaction, as he consistently greeted colleagues and customers with warmth, patience, and sincerity—even on the most demanding days. His distinctive, cheerful voice and steady presence were a constant at H&K Equipment and will be deeply missed.

Richard A. Rich leaves behind a lasting legacy of integrity, innovation, and human connection within the forklift and material handling community. His influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

H&K Equipment extends its heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Bonnie, Alan, and the entire Rich family during this difficult time
