From their beginning in 1888, EnerSys has evolved to become the largest industrial battery manufacturer in the world, operating manufacturing, assembly, and distribution facilities worldwide for customers in more than 100 countries while exceeding $2.3 billion in sales in 2012. The extensive line of motive power, reserve power, aerospace and defense and specialty batteries are complemented with a full range of integrated services and systems.

Today, EnerSys continues to expand globally as strategic opportunities arise. Since 2000 EnerSys has acquired 24 companies, which provide new products and services to thousands of customers around the globe.
One of the Company’s recent acquisitions, ABSL Power Solutions, Inc., provided a key component for the recent astronaut space walks and powered the Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU). The ABSL high energy density Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) long life battery assemblies are used in the International Space Station for spacewalks. During the past two years, EnerSys, as part of its global strategy, has invested in battery businesses in India, South America and South Africa.
