EnerSys® celebrates their 125-year anniversary in the industrial battery business in North America.  From their beginning in 1888, EnerSys has evolved to become the largest industrial battery manufacturer in the world, operating manufacturing, assembly, and distribution facilities worldwide for customers in more than 100 countries while exceeding $2.3 billion in sales in 2012. The extensive line of motive power, reserve power, aerospace and defense and specialty batteries are complemented with a full range of integrated services and systems.

“The EnerSys family is proud of its rich heritage. From our humble beginnings in Philadelphia in 1888 to the International Space Station circling the Earth today, EnerSys develops and manufactures highly regarded energy solutions for our global markets,” said John Craig, chairman, president and chief executive officer at EnerSys.

“Our success is simple – we hire the best employees to design, manufacture and service our products. We combine the most technologically advanced products in the industry with unbeatable customer service. That’s why our company is celebrating 125 years in this highly competitive business and why we are the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications,” said Craig.

“I thank the 9,000 employees worldwide who make EnerSys the global leader in our industry and I acknowledge and commend the efforts of the many thousands more who built this company over the past 125 years,” concluded Craig.

Today, EnerSys continues to expand globally as strategic opportunities arise. Since 2000 EnerSys has acquired 24 companies, which provide new products and services to thousands of customers around the globe.

One of the Company’s recent acquisitions, ABSL Power Solutions, Inc., provided a key component for the recent astronaut space walks and powered the Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU). The ABSL high energy density Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) long life battery assemblies are used in the International Space Station for spacewalks. During the past two years, EnerSys, as part of its global strategy, has invested in battery businesses in India, South America and South Africa.
