Barcoding’s Tom O’Boyle honored as a food logistics champion

Barcoding, Inc. announces that Tom O’Boyle, director of RFID, has been named a Food Logistics Champion: Rock Star of the Supply Chain for his proven track record of helping food and beverage clients enhance traceability with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. This inaugural award presented by Food Logistics recognizes influential individuals in the food/beverage industry whose achievements, hard work, and vision have shaped and continue to attain milestones in safety, efficiency, productivity, and innovation throughout the global food supply chain.

The head of RFID by Barcoding™, O’Boyle develops and implements RFID solutions that provide Barcoding clients – including food and beverage manufacturers and distributors – with optimal traceability of products and assets throughout the supply chain. By creating accurate chains of custody through automated data capture technology, clients are able to mitigate recalls, comply with industry regulations, and keep consumers safe.

“Traceability is one of the key challenges that the food and beverage industry faces every day, and RFID is one of the most viable solutions for overcoming these challenge,” said Tom O’Boyle, director of RFID, Barcoding, Inc. “However, what makes Barcoding unique is our approach —we do not simply provide a single solution. Rather, we assess our clients’ specific business situations and determine which type of technology – RFID, a hybrid solution, or even something completely different – will best meet their needs.”

With more than 15 years of experience in RFID technology and more than 20 years of experience in sales, product, and channel management, O’Boyle came to Barcoding in May 2013 as a result of the company’s acquisition of Miles Technologies, Inc.

Shane Snyder, president, Barcoding, Inc., said, “Since joining the Barcoding team, Tom O’Boyle has provided a breadth of knowledge in RFID and supply chain technology, helping us further our goal of making clients more efficient, accurate, and connected. Congratulations to Tom, our ‘Rock Star of the Supply Chain,’ for receiving this hard-earned award.”

Lara L. Sowinski, editor-in-chief, Food Logistics, said, “From early pioneers and entrepreneurs to non-conformist thinkers and executive standouts, this award aims to honor these leaders and their contributions to our industry. Moreover, leadership, innovation and influence reveals itself in numerous ways and not only at the executive level. This new award is our way of celebrating the talented trailblazers and inspirational mentors whose work deserves acknowledgement and appreciation.”
