pointGUARD unveils new pallet protection options

United Pallet Services, Inc., makers of the patented pointGUARD Pallet Protector System, will be debuting their first international pointGUARD at the MODEX trade show, being held March 17th-20th in Atlanta, Georgia. Developed by their European license holders ISL Global GmbH, this new plastic protector for wood pallets is engineered to fit an 800mm x 1200mm pallet, one of the most popular pallet sizes in Europe.

Also on display will be the SP40S, the newest member of the pointGUARD North America family. It is designed to fit the standard 48”x40” US shipping pallet. It’s lighter and about 1/3 the cost of its bigger brother, the LX40S which is designed for captive and reusable pallets. The shipping protector’s main purpose is to protect the product by keeping the top lead board defended from strapping or forklift damage. Due to its low price point, it’s intended for one time use.

The global pointGUARD team will be on hand at MODEX speaking five different languages (German, Russian, English, Spanish and Chinese) discussing their solution to pallet and product damage. They will be promoting the fact that by protecting your wood pallet, you can make it more sustainable and achieve up to an 80% reduction in pallet repair, pallet replacement costs, and product damage related to pallet failure.

Since launching their patented pointGUARD Pallet Protector at the ProMat Trade Show last year in Chicago, United Pallet Services, Inc. has made great strides with its plastic shield, including being awarded the 3rd place award at the prestigious Recycling Innovators Forum, held in Louisville Kentucky during August of last year. In addition to this, it has licensed its pointGUARD concept and brand to companies in Germany and Costa Rica, which represent territories in Europe, Russia, Israel, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Wooden pallets, the staple of the industry for decades are considered by many to be sustainable, economical, and easy to source. The downside however, is they are prone to considerable damage from forklifts. Once a pallet is damaged it can create product damage during transit as well. The pointGUARD offers a more economical solution than all plastic pallets provide. The pointGUARD plastic pallet protector utilizes the greatest benefits of both, the durability of plastic but with a price point more towards the cost of a wood pallet.

UPSI was started in 1994 when two pallet companies merged to form one of Northern California’s largest pallet companies. Always keeping an eye out towards innovating trends, they are poised to meet the demands and challenges that face the pallet industry in the future.
