OE Attachments announce the Fork Wear Indicator

Listen to this article

OE Attachments, a supplier of high-quality attachments, safety solutions and innovative products to OEMs, has announced a new way to measure forklift fork wear: the Fork Wear Indicator.

The Fork Wear Indicator is an easy to read guide stamped into the side of most OE Attachments’ ITA forks. This simple visual indicator is an innovative way to help operators and safety managers identify forks that are unsafe or are approaching unsafe wear levels. Machines with pre-installed Fork Wear Indicator stamped forks are expected to demand higher wholesale and retail prices given the value-added benefits they provide end users.

According to OSHA guidelines and industry standards, forklift forks should be replaced after 10% of wear, since that milestone de-rates fork capacity by 20%. Using a fork caliper to determine the wear of a forklift fork is standard practice in the industry, but current technology has left room for error and negligence.

“We’re always looking for intuitive solutions that both increase safety and generate high demand from the market. We believe the Fork Wear Indicator will significantly reduce the chance of human error and negligence surrounding fork inspection and quickly become a customer requirement. Based on our initial interest, we are confident the Fork Wear Indicator will become a standard in the material handling industry.” Stated Terry Melvin, CEO of OE Attachments.

OE Attachments’ patented Fork Wear Indicator for forklift forks makes knowing how and when to check fork wear levels a quick, easy, and more reliable process. This simple solution provides clear visibility of fork wear and indicates to the operator when an inspection or replacement is needed.
