Nelson Heat Trace, a brand of Appleton Group, is bringing added reliability and productivity to heavy-duty industrial heat trace deployments with its new AX Connection Kits engineered to fulfill the increased safety standards of the latest NEC hazardous location codes.

“Our new AX Kits contain everything needed to create the safest, most reliable and fully protected heat trace wiring connections in any configuration, as well as to verify the heating cable circuit’s operation,” explained Romy Sheynis, Product Marketing Manager, Nelson Heat Trace. “These kits allow oil & gas pipelines, petrochemical plants, food & beverage manufacturers and power generation facilities to prevent fluids from freezing in pipes, valves and tanks in the coldest weather.”

Approved by CSA and FM for NEC Ordinary and Hazardous locations, Nelson AX Connector Kits are constructed to withstand extreme conditions that would compromise a standard heat trace connector. Their nonmetallic, impact-resistant polyester enclosures are rated IP66 and NEMA 4X, making them suitable for use in corrosive environments. The enclosures also feature reinforced standoffs to prevent cracking, along with being carbon-impregnated so static charge can not buildup. The enclosures offer the additional advantage of being both larger and modular in design for assure easier, faster installation and service. DIN-rail mounted terminal blocks help when maintaining the connection, while spring-clamp terminals simplify wiring with no need to tighten screws. They fit all wattages of Nelson Self-Regulating heating cables (LT, HLT, QLT and CLT).

Nelson is a pioneer in developing heat tracing solutions that deliver industry-first innovation and technology that leads to increased productivity and performance. The new universal connection kits join its PLT and ALT kits for commercial and light industrial use giving specifying engineers a complete choice of connection kits for any heat trace application.

Nelson AX kits address more application needs with the industry’s broadest selection of options including a splice connection kit, a power connection kit, a tee splice connection kits and an end-of-circuit kit.
