Liberty Technologies extensions provide greater flexibility in deep-lane dynamic storage

Liberty Technologies is introducing HDX Storage Solution with EZ-Flow technology.  HDX applies pneumatic controls and deep lane storage principles to design, build and retrofit material handling and storage systems for manufacturers and distributors.  Liberty Technologies’ extensive experience in unit load systems and high density dynamic storage systems provides a manufacturers and distributors one stop for designing, handling and storing their products on palletized and non-palletized unit loads.

Currently, the HDX is available in our standard offering, the HDX-GP with pneumatic braking to safely secure the unit load; Liberty Technologies is now extending our product family to include the HDX-EZ.  The HDX-EZ incorporates EZ-Flow technology that allows for a wider variety of pallet sizes and weights in the same lane.  The HDX family is also available in a push-back configuration (HDX-PB) and in a controlled brake configuration (HDX-CB).  The complete HDX family offers customers a choice of configurations, technologies and features to meet their application needs.

“The Liberty Technologies HDX Product Group’s expertise provides the capability to design a full material handling system that considers the storage, flow and unit load design as a total concept,” says Kirk Ambrose, GM – Liberty Technologies.  “Historically, the design of the unit load has been separate islands of automation from the design of the handling and storage system. That has led to predictable interface and communications problems among different technologies.”

The HDX design has several key benefits over traditional storage systems, including improved safety.  With the unique lock out/tag out feature, HDX technology is the only high-density storage solution that is OSHA compliant for confined space within the system.

The HDX optimizes the space utilization of unit loads by providing superior space utilization with deep-lane, flow-through storage.  It also provides superior first in/first out configuration than traditional storage systems.

In addition, the HDX increases throughput.  Movement of the unit load with the HDX system is pneumatically-controlled.  The unit load rests on static rails or the deck plate; air forced into tubes raises sections of roller conveyors that make contact with the load.  The speed and distance traveled is controlled by intermittently raising or lowering the hose at timed intervals.

Operation is activated and controlled by using bar code scanners, radio control equipment or photo-eyes.  HDX easily integrates with Warehouse Management Systems as well AS/RS systems.

Liberty Technologies service group will also provide complete product testing prior to shipment as well as product installation services and testing at the customer’s facility.

HDX storage solutions have already been adopted by customers in the food, beverage, freezer, automotive and electronics industries. Utilizing flow through deep lane storage, HDX solutions:

  •  Increase cube utilization
  • Provide exceptional safety and reliability
  • And improve inventory control

Adds Dan Quinn, Product Manager for HDX, “This is the first time where all of the load, stability, protection and movement and storage issues are being evaluated and tested as a total system. This provides customers the opportunity to go to one source to get the technology specifically designed to solve the problem.  All of the interface and communications issues are taken out of the equation.”
