Konecranes offers RailQ crane runway survey to prevent premature wear and downtime

Advanced laser survey technique provides faster, safer, and more accurate analysis that helps cranes run smoothly and safely on rails. RailQ uses Konecranes proprietary visualization technology and a remote controlled robot trolley which runs along the rail collecting data via Bluetooth® technology and transferring the data to a Total Station to determine tracking issues and misalignments—critical problems which can potentially lead to accelerated wear, higher costs, and even failure. At the Total Station, survey software processes the data for straightness, span, elevation, and rail-to-rail elevation.

The result of RailQ from Konecranes is a precise, reliable runway analysis that provides cost-effective solutions for any rail system of overhead cranes and takes a fraction of the time to conduct as compared to traditional rail surveys.

It can be used to verify geometry of the crane structure and major components, including wheel and end truck alignment, girder camber, and bridge squareness.
Konecranes’ runway survey is safer than traditional rail surveys, and takes less time to produce results. Once the RailQ robot is configured, there is no need for a technician to scale the length of the runway, making the survey safer to perform than traditional alignment calculation methods. Robot tools also allow access to rails not accessible with other methods, resulting in more complete and accurate data.
