Hyster delivers its first Tier 4 Final Container Handlers

Hyster Company has delivered its first container handlers with Tier 4 Final engines to a terminal at the port of Los Angeles. The three Hyster® H1050HD-CH trucks are ideally suited for ports and terminals, providing outstanding lifting capacity and superior performance.

The Hyster H1050-1150HD-CH series features a Tier 4 Final Cummins engine rated at 363 horsepower that is right-sized to lower fuel consumption by up to 20 percent, but strong enough to deliver hoist speeds of 59 feet/minute and lowering speeds of 98 feet/minute (no load) for excellent productivity.

The H1050-1150HD-CH series with Tier 4 Final engine provides an integrated drivetrain with an emission reduction package that includes cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for nitrogen oxide reduction. This integrated powertrain design includes engine protection from excessive temperatures and pressures and a torque derate strategy. Together these features deliver enhanced durability and dependable performance – helping to increase productivity and uptime.

“We are pleased to deliver our first Tier 4 Final compliant container handlers to the port of Los Angeles – the leading seaport in North America in terms of shipping container volume and cargo value,” said Brett Schemerhorn, President of Big Trucks, Americas for Hyster Company. “Hyster’s profitable low emissions strategy enables customers to meet emission requirements while benefitting from lower total cost of ownership and impressive fuel savings.”

Engineered for heavy duty container handling applications, the H1050-1150HD-CH series comes standard with an integral mounted spreader capable of handling both 20-foot and 40-foot ISO and domestic containers. The spreader allows either mechanical or powered pile sloping while providing power slewing, gantry spreader sideshift and automatic twistlock functions using four pendular twistlocks that engage containers for hassle-free handling. Additionally, intuitive controls deliver immediate response for precise operation of the mast and spreader attachment.
