HELLA introduces new DuraRAY3 LED rotating beacon

Listen to this article

HELLA, Inc. offers the new HELLA DuraRAY3 LED rotating beacon for mining and construction applications where the cost of equipment downtime is large and safety is paramount. This new, innovative warning beacon is crafted with cast alloy housing and a chemical resistant Xylex® lens for increased mechanical strength and vibration resistance. This design enables it to survive larger crush or impact loads than conventional optical beacons. Available in amber and red variants, the beacon combines the latest generation of high output LEDs combined with a new intelligent electronic control system. It offers excellent beam control, ensuring effective penetration of fog and dust without blinding the operator through backscatter, while delivering high observability from a distance with minimal close-up glare. HELLA DuraRAY features the Multivolt™ 9-33V DC system, which allows for installation on machines and equipment that may have varying voltage outputs due to engine load. The light output from the high-emitting LEDs is not affected by this varying supply. The beacon has a low EMC signature and boasts higher EMC standard CISPR25 Class 3 certification for improved safety and reliability with other electrical devices.

HELLA has also applied a new advanced, non-stick surface coating, which has been developed specifically for HELLA Mining products to optimize corrosion and UV protection. This self-cleaning coating actively prevents dirt build-up on the beacon and resists acidic materials and salts. The coating is bonded to the housing and will not peel or flake. The beacon is a fully sealed ‘Fit and Forget” product that can be submerged and high-pressure washed from any direction. The lamp is pre-wired and sealed to IP6K9K to prevent entry of dirt and moisture.

With over 100 years of experience in the automotive industry, HELLA combines its advanced technologies in the field of electronics and LED, to develop a formidable series of products designed to deliver the level of quality, reliability, and durability required to withstand the rigors of a mining environment.
