Eaton’s CP to CPX retrofit kits offer convenient, cost-effective upgrade for SV9000 drives and components

Power management company Eaton now offers a convenient and cost-effective way to upgrade the electronic and key power components on 18-pulse drive assemblies without removing or replacing the enclosure.

The CP to CPX retrofit kit is specially designed to replace the obsolete SV9000 drive and other legacy components, eliminating the need for expensive and frequently hard-to-find spare parts. By upgrading the drive, a wide array of communications, input/output (I/O) and control capabilities become available.

“CP to CPX retrofit kits offer convenience, flexibility and affordability, backed by Eaton’s world-class customer service and warranty protection,’ said Josh Gross, global product line manager, Eaton. “The kits are the obvious solution for cost-conscious engineers who demand seamless design solutions and updated technology at an affordable price.’

CP to CPX kits are designed to retrofit:

  • SV9000 drives sized M5 through M10
  • Variable torque applications up to 600 horsepower (hp)
  • Constant torque applications up to 400 hp
  • Current ratings up to 730 amperes (A)

Replacement parts for SV9000 drives have been discontinued, so the only alternative to a retrofit kit is to replace the drive and the enclosure.

Eaton’s CP to CPX retrofit kits offer a host of features, including a convenient and cost-effective modular design. Only three screws are needed to link the control module to the power module. For further convenience, control units are interchangeable within frame sizes; software, control panels, I/O and communication cards are common throughout the line.

The SVX9000 control logic module can be programmed and tested even when the drive is isolated from the main power. The drive may be configured to communicate with commonly used control systems. The control unit’s powerful microprocessor can be used for local control tasks, thereby freeing resources of the control system for other control tasks. A remote keypad mounting kit is standard with all retrofit kits.
