Bell and Howell introduces labeling, parcel-sorting, packaging and service solutions at ProMat 2015

Bell and Howell is pleased to introduce the second generation of its Signature 5000™ print-and-apply labeling system that utilizes various patented technologies to deliver over twice the output of traditional automated print-and-apply systems for large height variations. This high-throughput liner-free top-apply labeling solution includes various improvements to maximize productivity. Bell and Howell will showcase the Signature 5000 along with other parcels and flats solutions in booth #424 at ProMat 2015 at McCormick Place, Chicago, March 23 through March 26.

Bell and Howell has evolved its linerless label-application technology over several hundred installations, and in recent years included industry-standard direct thermal printing technology to provide the highest-performing print-and-apply labeling system available today. Signature 5000 enables up to 80 percent more labels per roll than traditional die-cut labels, and produces labels of varying length on demand. The result is a system that reduces downtime while eliminating the need for multiple labelers. With no liner to discard, the solution is both green and efficient.

This innovative technology is utilized by Bell and Howell’s ParcelMgr™, an integrated system that provides industry-leading parcel-processing capabilities in a compact footprint. ParcelMgr lowers the cost of parcel fulfillment and delivery by automating the tasks of identifying, weighing, labeling and sorting parcels or flats at speeds of up to 5,000 parcels per hour. For users that ship through USPS, the ParcelMgr can help achieve the best possible postage rates and enable delivery-point addressing through the company’s industry-leading NetSort presort software and Sabre address-reading software.

In addition to the Signature 5000 and ParcelMgr, Bell and Howell will also highlight the award-winning CartonWrap™ dynamic packaging system at ProMat 2015. CartonWrap automatically creates the carton in line, based on product dimensions, at a rate of up to 15 boxes per minute. This eco-friendly solution creates cartons from a continuous reel (or fanfold) of corrugated substrate to fit the volume of the content, thus providing the optimum carton size. The result is reducing shipping charges as well as elimination of dunnage while reducing labor and inventory. CartonWrap was named Parcel Handling Innovation of the Year at POST-EXPO 2014.

Visitors to booth #424 will also learn about Bell and Howell Services offerings, including multi-vendor services, service contacts, preventive maintenance, product reconditioning, self-maintenance and support, and technical training. Bell and Howell’s expert service technicians provide 24/7 support throughout the United States and Canada.
