Reddaway has been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-administered SmartWay® Transport Partnership for ranking in the top tier of carbon efficiency among trucking firms. The SmartWay program was created in 2004 to improve fuel efficiency and environmental performance of transportation organizations. Earning this recognition confirms Reddaway’s success in its efforts to create a more environmentally-friendly operation and fleet.

“Safety and service to our customers are Reddaway’s top priorities. We know it’s possible to achieve high marks in those areas while also doing our part to improve the environment,” said Reddaway President and CEO, T.J. O’Connor. “Through our ongoing investment in cleaner-running power units, including a strong maintenance program to keep our equipment in top operating shape, and fuel-efficient driver practices, we have been able to reduce our emissions to lower levels. I thank the Reddaway employees who played a part in earning this designation. Every member of Team Reddaway can feel proud knowing we are among the very best trucking organizations when it comes to providing environmentally-friendly freight transportation.”

The SmartWay Program is a public-private initiative between the EPA, large and small trucking companies, rail carriers, logistics companies, commercial manufacturers, retailers and other federal and state agencies. Its purpose is to improve fuel efficiency and the environmental performance (reducing both greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution) of the goods-movement supply chains.

SmartWay ranks carriers based on these performance metrics: grams per mile and grams per ton-mile for carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and particulate matter. Reddaway was ranked in the top 20% performance range of all freight companies within its SmartWay category.
