“At Plastic Ingenuity’s facilities, post-consumer recycled plastics are being transformed into products that touch nearly every part of our lives—helping food stay fresher longer, safeguarding medical devices, and delivering the everyday essentials people rely on,” said Matt Seaholm, President and CEO of the Plastics Industry Association. “From protecting our food supply to ensuring the safety of life-saving medical treatments, innovative solutions in plastic packaging play a vital role in keeping Americans safe every day—and Plastic Ingenuity is helping tell that story. This is what recycling looks like: practical innovation that reduces waste, strengthens our economy, and keeps us protected.”
“The phrase ‘being ever mindful of our natural environment’ was written into Plastic Ingenuity’s first mission statement and has been a company philosophy since the company was founded in 1972,” said Dan Kuehn, President and CEO of Plastic Ingenuity. “Today, sustainability is a daily practice. Our engineers design for efficiency, our designers prioritize circularity, and our packaging manufacturers understand their role as stewards of the environment. We are proud to partner with the Plastics Industry Association to amplify the message that Recycling is Real and contribute to a more sustainable future.”

The Recycling Is Real campaign provides content to help elected officials and policymakers understand that recycling is a vital link in the sustainability and circularity chain, enabling them to make well-informed decisions about recycling infrastructure and support.
Launched in 2023, the campaign was created to combat false narratives suggesting that recycling is not happening or that it’s a “myth.” With some seeking to reduce or eliminate plastic production altogether, Recycling Is Real demonstrates where and how recycling occurs—and introduces the people making it happen.
