The third [MC]2 2014 MTConnect: Connecting Manufacturing Conference – Advancing Data-Driven Manufacturing will be held in Orlando, Fla., April 8-10 at the Caribe Royale Orlando.

MTConnect is a set of open, royalty-free standards intended to foster greater interoperability between controls, devices and software applications by publishing data over networks using the internet protocol. Since its introduction in 2008, MTConnect has become the standard for manufacturing connectivity. The manufacturing technology community commonly uses MTConnect to connect the shop floor to monitoring applications and to integrate the shop floor with the entire manufacturing enterprise.

“As the third annual conference, [MC]2 2014 will build upon the tremendous success of the first two conferences with even greater emphasis on ‘connecting’ end users, equipment suppliers, software developers, distributors, ISVs, integrators, students, professors and consultants to all things MTConnect,” stated Dave Edstrom, outgoing president and chairman of the board of the MTConnect Institute.

Incoming president and chairman of the MTConnect Institute board Courtney Hill added, “The [MC]2 Conference for 2014 will be supported by a world class roster of thought leaders and industry insiders committed to advancing data-driven manufacturing. Building on the MTConnect foundation, this conference will focus on the real world benefits and practical implementation of digital manufacturing technology.”

A highlight of [MC]2 2014 will be the selection of winners for the MTConnect Challenge 2. Participants in the MTConnect Challenge 2 that began July 1, 2013, and closes Jan. 31, 2014, are developing software applications that harness innovation and manufacturing intelligence breakthroughs utilizing data acquired via the MTConnect standard.  Conference attendees will then vote for the top three winners. The two-part competition has been sponsored by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) and AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology.
