Herndon Products, Inc. awarded five-year contract with Rock Island Arsenal

Herndon Products, Inc. (HPI) was recently awarded a five-year, Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract with the Rock Island Arsenal – Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (RIA-JMTC).  The initial delivery order is valued at $500,000.  Under this Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) contract, HPI has already supplied industrial vending machines at 28 locations throughout the JMTC and will stock those machines for the next five years with a wide range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, face shields, and aprons.  “The RIA-JMTC occupies 1.5 million square feet and is the only multi-purpose and vertically integrated metal manufacturer in the US Department of Defense. Awarded in early 2013 as the result of a full and open competition, this PPE VMI Program is now fully operational, after having completed a successful 75-day implementation phase. The PPE VMI program is part of the RIA-JMTC’s on-going cost savings initiatives.  “The benefit comes from providing the necessary safety products closer to the work centers, along with accountability for all PPE consumption,” said Scott Herndon, CEO and President of Herndon Products.  HPI is partnered with Spirit Partners, Inc. (SPI) for local on-site presence to ensure that the vending machines are stocked and maintained. SPI is a veteran-owned, small business headquartered in Rock Island, Illinois, providing logistics support, training, and government liaison.  “This is the second VMI Program that we are now co-executing with SPI in support of the operations at the RIA-JMTC,” said Don Skosky, Director of Business Development at Herndon Products.  “Herndon Products represents a strong supply chain management solution which includes a local team at all of our key customer locations.”
