Conveyer & Caster – Equipment for Industry Sees New Opportunities in New Space
On March 4, 2019, Conveyer & Caster – Equipment for Industry opened the doors of its new headquarters at 29570 Clemens Road, Westlake, Ohio. Conveyer & Caster had operated from their Ohio City location for nearly 50 years, growing from one building to three in the last 15 years.
“We had to move because we had grown out of our space entirely. We were at a point where we had to decide if we could sacrifice production space to add offices. That’s a decision we didn’t want to make,” said Trevor Stohr, President of Conveyer & Caster.
The new facility features 75,000 square feet of offices and warehouse space, with roughly one-third of the space being offices, and the rest warehouse and production space. Conveyer & Caster’s last home was 24,000 square feet between the three buildings. The move to the new building reflects the growth Conveyer & Caster has experienced over the past decade, tripling sales and doubling staff.
The new space has allowed Conveyer & Caster to hire new people, add new equipment, and implement best practices for storage and production. Jeff Stohr, CEO of Conveyer & Caster, commented on how quickly the new space changed how people thought about problems. “We used to think of reasons not to take on a challenge and they came easy. ‘We don’t have the space’ was a usual refrain. But now, I’m looking in our warehouse and asking myself, ‘Well, why shouldn’t we?’”
Conveyer & Caster took possession of the building in October 2018 from JTEKT, the building’s original owner. After closing, Conveyer & Caster worked to modernize offices, common areas, conference rooms, and the warehouse. Improvements include new furniture, integrated conferencing systems, modular high-top furniture, and LED lighting. The new space provides plenty of room for collaboration and cooperation. “Our offices were broken up and distributed in the old building. People come together more now, they see each other more, and they work together more. I’ve seen some great things come out of it,” said Trevor Stohr.
