AI, Trade and Economic Strategy Lead PTDA 2026 Canadian Conference

Listen to this article

The Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) will host its 2026 Canadian Conference in Montréal, Canada June 2-4, uniting power transmission/motion control (PT/MC) professionals to explore the latest industry trends and challenges. Industry executives will explore topics including AI-driven sales strategies, international business challenges and the 2026 economic outlook for the PT/MC industry—while engaging in focused networking designed to advance their businesses and strengthen the channel.

“We consistently hear that members value insight they can act on and time to connect with the right partners,” said Craig Bobbie, Advisory Planning Committee Chair. “This event brings both together, providing our members with forward-looking perspective while creating space for the kinds of conversations that strengthen the channel. We’ve developed programming addressing the current challenges and opportunities our members are navigating.”

The Distributor-Manufacturer Idea Exchange (DM-IDEX), a highlight of the conference, takes place Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4. Distributor leaders are available to meet with manufacturers and peers to share insights, discuss their latest projects and build relationships that drive future growth. This year, DM-IDEX will feature both open time, giving attendees a chance to spontaneously connect in conversation, and self-scheduled appointments during select hours.

Presentations will feature leading experts and PTDA member panelists offering practical strategies to equip participants to:

  • Understand the economic outlook with insights from Jeremy Leonard of Oxford Economics. Gain clarity on Canadian market conditions, evolving trade dynamics and tariff impacts and what they mean for business and supplier relationships.
  • Put AI to work in sales strategy. Fergal O’Carroll will explore practical applications built for the PT/MC channel to accelerate sales, protect margins, improve objection handling and reduce administrative workload.
  • Strengthen distributor–manufacturer alignment. A panel of next-generation PT/MC leaders will discuss how evolving communication styles, expectations and sales strategies are redefining channel relationships.
  • Navigate global uncertainty with confidence. Renowned journalist Chantal Hébert will examine the geopolitical, trade and regulatory forces shaping Canada’s PT/MC sector and identify strategies to strengthen supply chains and position for international growth.

Receptions and meals offer prime opportunities to continue building connections with peers. Early-bird registration ends April 27.
