Merchandise Warehouse Company’s new, multi-temperature facility opened with a ribbon cutting on at 1414 South West Street in Indianapolis, with Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, Rob Adams of Tippmann Innovation and Tim Siddiq of Merchandise Warehouse doing the honors. The 100,000-square-foot, technologically advanced refrigerated warehouse adds to Merchandise Warehouse’s existing 400,000 square feet of cold storage. Merchandise Warehouse turned to Tippmann Innovation (TI) to develop this new cutting edge refrigerated facility.

The new building is totally convertible, allowing Merchandise Warehouse to cater to a wide variety of clients, including food, grocery and pharmaceutical, whose products demand a range of temperatures. The facility can be operated from 40 degrees Fahrenheit to -10 degrees Fahrenheit, with a unique Radioshuttle system for high density pallet racking (Radioshuttle is a semi-automated, remotely controlled storage and retrieval system that allows for a maximum use of warehouse space).

“Today is a great day — not just for Merchandise Warehouse but for the city of Indianapolis,” said Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett during the ribbon cutting ceremony. “We come together knowing that this project will mean not just economic development but community development for the southwest side of our city,” he added.

“Tippmann Innovation helped us with new thinking, beyond the scope of our original parameters, and was able to help us design a building with 25% more pallet positions, and this is good for our customers,” says Tim Siddiq, President and CEO of Merchandise Warehouse.
