TŬV Rheinland introduces industrial control panel shop program

Listen to this article

TÜV Rheinland, a full-service inspection, testing and certification company, introduces a Panel Shop program to manufacturers of custom panels. It allows shops the flexibility to produce a wide variety of custom panels and apply a TÜV Rheinland label to each without an evaluation of every individual type of panel, provided they are fully compliant with the program requirements. The service helps manufacturers ensure compliance with applicable regulations while maximizing production efficiency and managing costs.

Constructing industrial control panels in numerous custom designs and in limited quantities makes a typical field evaluation, or certification, of each panel prohibitively time-consuming and expensive. TÜV Rheinland Panel Shop program offers an alternative by examining the manufacturer’s quality and build processes, sampling panels, and gauging the overall competency of the staff and shop conditions to determine if they are suitable for producing fully compliant panels.

All participating panel shops must continue building TÜV Rheinland labeled panels to the same standard and using the same quality practices as verified and agreed upon during the qualifying audit. A follow-up audit every six months ensures the manufacturer produces panels in accordance with applicable standards every time.

Recognized by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and other inspectors, TÜV Rheinland label signifies that the product is compliant with the standards listed on the label. TÜV Rheinland lists control panels for UL 508A for the U.S.; CSA/C22.2 No. 14 for Canada; and EN 60204-1 and EN 61439-1 for Europe. Each label will be individually serialized and traceable on the TÜV Rheinland Certipedia website at https://www.certipedia.com.
