Magnetek adds two systems to collision avoidance product family

Magnetek, Inc., provider of digital power and motion control systems, announced the addition of two new systems to their collision avoidance family of products. The ReFlx® 45 and LaserGuard™2 join the ReFlx 120 as options to enhance the performance of overhead material handling systems by preventing crane-to-crane or crane-to-end-stop collisions. Avoiding collisions results in reduced maintenance costs and increased operator safety.

“Our collision avoidance system options include an array of functionalities, sizes, and price points to complement the range of innovative power control and delivery systems and solutions we offer for the material handling industry,” said Aaron Kureck, Magnetek’s director of product development and aftermarket services. “When investing in overhead cranes, it is not worth risking even one collision.”

The new ReFlx 45 is a cost-effective solution, ideal for a single stop event with one contact point. All electronic components are built into the IP67-rated housing, enabling easy installation on overhead material handling applications. ReFlx 45 has a detection range of 345 feet, and the system includes a sensor, 2×2 foot reflector, and sensor bracket. The ReFlx 45’s LED power and range indicator lights allow for easy set-up and troubleshooting, while the optional DIN rail for mounting simplifies retrofit installations in harsh environments.

Next generation LaserGuard2 is the most technologically advanced system available, able to detect between 8 inches and 150 feet. It uses self-monitoring optical lasers to check a crane’s position and the multi-distance detection feature is flexible enough to manage crane-to-crane and crane-to-wall operation. The LaserGuard2 system includes a laser support unit, 2×2 foot reflector, laser, mounting bracket, and sensor cable. Pushbutton programming makes the LaserGuard2 easy to use and a visible red light provides easy alignment and quick set-up.

The ReFlx 120 system, which features a reliable, solid-state control board in a small, easy-to-install enclosure, completes the collision avoidance family and includes a sensor, sensor cable, 2×2 foot reflector, and controller.
