Phillips 66 Lubricants adds high-efficiency products to its hydraulic oils lineup

Listen to this article

Phillips 66 Lubricants announced the introduction of a new and improved lineup of High-Efficiency (HE) hydraulic oils to meet growing market demands for oils that improve fuel and energy efficiency. As compared to conventional mono-grade hydraulic oils, HE oils hold their viscosity better at high temperatures, reducing energy loss caused by internal leakage in the hydraulic pumps and resulting in improved hydraulic system efficiency. Additionally, Phillips 66 Lubricants hydraulic oils play a key role in extending the life of equipment by protecting against wear, rust and corrosion.

“Phillips 66 new high-efficiency hydraulic oils have the potential to reduce overall operating costs, increase equipment reliability, and improve productivity,” stated Bill Brown, Director of Marketing for Industrial Products at Phillips 66 Lubricants. “Adding these HE products to our Phillips 66 Lubricants hydraulic oils lineup not only helps us remain at the forefront of the industry, but more importantly allows us to continue providing our customers with products that improve their bottom line.”

The Phillips 66 Lubricants hydraulic oil lineup currently includes 20 specialized products including these high efficiency fluids.

Ultra Powerflow™ HE 46/68 Hydraulic Oil: This is a new premium-quality, high-viscosity index anti-wear hydraulic oil developed primarily for use in mobile equipment operating in cold climates or in locations subject to wide temperature fluctuations. With a viscosity between an ISO 46 and 68, Ultra Powerflow HE is recommended for use in off-road construction, mining and marine equipment manufactured by Komatsu and others. It meets all major industry and OEM requirements. Field and lab tests have shown improvement in hydraulic pump efficiency of up to 9 percent in moderate conditions and up to 20 percent in severe conditions, when compared to conventional hydraulic fluids, leading to significant overall performance improvement.

Powerflow™ HE Hydraulic Oil: Powerflow HE, which replaced the Powerflow AW HVI product, is premium anti-wear hydraulic fluid formulated with a high-viscosity index and a low pour point that makes it ideal for use over a wider temperature range than conventional hydraulic oils and across a variety of mobile and marine hydraulic system applications. With excellent service over a wide temperature range and increased efficiency up to 6 percent when compared to conventional hydraulic fluids, this fluid is recommended for use in high-pressure, high-speed hydraulic pumps commonly found in mobile trucks, bucket trucks, cranes, and lifts. These applications include hydraulic systems on mobile construction equipment, marine cargo winches and steering systems, electrical service repair trucks, and tree-trimming trucks.

Ecoterra® HVI Hydraulic Oil: Ecoterra HVI is an inherently biodegradable, high-quality, zinc-free anti-wear hydraulic fluid that is considered an “environmentally conscious” fluid specified for application in some off-road equipment across a wide temperature range. The VI of the Ecoterra HVI product has been upgraded to 162 for both grades so that, like Powerflow HE, an efficiency claim of up to six percent can be made.
