Steve Boecking returns to Shoppa’s as Chief Operating Officer

Shoppa’s Material Handling is proud to announce Steve Boecking as Shoppa’s new Chief Operating Officer. He brings more than 40 years of experience in the material handling industry and previously worked at Shoppa’s for seven years from 1992-1999.

Steve understands the ins and outs of the industry, having started on the ground floor in the parts department, then as a forklift mechanic and from there, into sales and management. “Steve is going to be such a valuable asset to Shoppa’s and the Toyota brand,” said Jim Shoppa, president of Shoppa’s Material Handling. “His previous time with us is a big plus and he brings a wealth of knowledge of our industry that will be priceless as we continue
to grow.”

From 1975 to 1992, Steve worked for Caterpillar dealers and, most recently, was vice  president of Hillwood, developer of the 26,000-acre Alliance Texas development in north Fort Worth. In that position, he oversaw the management of the 9,600-acre Foreign Trade Zone, was responsible for community relations and worked to enhance the multimodal
transportation infrastructure, supply chain service, workforce development and economic
benefits for companies within the development.

Steve received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Vanderbilt University. Some of his professional affiliations include Accredited Zone Specialist for the National Association of Foreign Trade Zones, serving on the advisory boards for TCU Center for Supply Chain Innovation and UNT Jim McNatt Institute for Logistics Research, and serving on the board of directors for North American Strategy for Competitiveness, Manufacturing Skills Standards Council and Speedway Children’s Charity.

“My goals are to meet the team and get an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses. I like to understand and develop the individual talents of each team member,” Steve said. “I thoroughly enjoyed helping develop the Alliance Foreign Trade Zone into the number one FTZ in the U.S. and I’m excited about the economic growth in Texas, specifically in the DFW Metroplex and how that will translate into limitless opportunities in the material handling industry. This is the business I grew up in – working in every department – and my  understanding of Shoppa’s vision gives me the tools I need to help lead this team to success.”
