Bricking Solutions offers the Safest and Lightest Inspection Cages and Tunnels

Bricking Solutions, a full solutions provider in kiln refractory installation equipment, offers Safety Inspection Cages and Personal Protection Tunnels for heightened worker safety. Cages and tunnels provide workers a sheltered area to repair and inspect the kiln, keeping them safe from the debris that commonly falls as coatings shrink and expand.

“Kiln maintenance is a difficult task, even without the added safety concerns from falling debris,” said Lars Lindgren, Bricking Solutions president. “Our new universal safety cages provide protection customers can count on, sheltering them from debris as large as 250 pounds dropped from as high as 7 feet above the cage.”

Made of T6-6061 aircraft aluminum, the cages are lightweight — just 140 pounds (64 kilograms) — as much as 50 percent lighter than the steel alternative. The lightweight aluminum makes it easy for two workers to carry the cage with its convenient flip-up handles.

Cages and tunnels are rigorously tested to hold up to the toughest challenges and built-in safety and efficiency features provide workers with peace of mind. Bolt and pin connectors offer quick assembly and disassembly of the cages in as little as 20 minutes. A unique spring system absorbs the shock to maintain stability upon impact. Leg spikes also dig into the refractory for increased stability. Workers are protected from debris by a heavy-duty Polypropylene Knotless mesh or stainless steel mesh netting that is secured around the outside of the cage.

In addition, Bricking Solutions offers Personal Protection Tunnels that provide masons safe passage in and out of the kiln. Similar to the cages, tunnels are designed to withstand impacts of up to 250 pounds (114 kilograms) and can handle drops from up to 18 inches (455 millimeters).

Made with aluminum sides and a steel mesh cover, the tunnels are strong but lightweight. Tunnels are custom built to specific kiln requirements to ensure proper passage of personnel and tools.

It takes less than 20 minutes apiece to assemble the Set Up Cage and each tunnel section. To begin tunnel assembly, the Set Up Cage must be constructed first, followed by the individual tunnel section. From there, workers will wheel forward the Set Up Cage after each tunnel section is constructed.

Bricking Solutions Safety Cages and Personal Protection Tunnels provide workers a sheltered area to repair and inspect the kiln, keeping them safe from the debris that commonly falls as coatings shrink and expand.
