President and Congressional leaders reach deal to end shutdown

This afternoon President Donald Trump announced in the Rose Garden a short-term deal to reopen the government for three weeks while negotiations continue over the promised border wall.

Trump said he would soon sign a bill to re-open the government through February 15th without additional money for the border wall.

With 800,000 Federal workers facing a second two-week pay period with paychecks and Monday’s start of the federal tax season put more pressure on both sides to work out a temporary deal to reopen the government.
