ORBIS® Corporation, an international manufacturer in reusable packaging, donated 300 gallons of milk to the Greater Chicago Food Depository this week. This donation was inspired by ProFood Tech 2019, which was held in Chicago March 26-28. For every booth visitor ORBIS received, it donated three gallons of milk to the Food Depository.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is recognized as one of the leading charities in Chicago. In partnership with 700 agencies and programs — including pantries, soup kitchens and shelters — it distributes food where it is needed most throughout Cook County, while striving to end hunger in the community. Last year, the Food Depository distributed more than 69 million pounds of food.

“We are so grateful that ORBIS recognized our mission and chose us to be the beneficiary of their ProFood Tech efforts,” said Herman Carnie, director of food acquisition at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. “This partnership helped raise awareness of hunger and food banks among ProFood Tech visitors, while contributing to our efforts to end hunger in Chicago and Cook County. We couldn’t do what we do without support from companies like ORBIS.”

ORBIS’ partnership with the Food Depository coincided with the launch of its XpressBulk™ Milk Delivery System at ProFood Tech. The retail-ready, fully reusable merchandising system was designed to transport fluid milk from the truck to the retail cooler with only one touch. ORBIS used the launch of this new system to raise awareness for communities in need that may not have access to fresh fluid milk.

“It was rewarding to see an organization such as the Greater Chicago Food Depository and a company such as ORBIS come together to benefit a local community,” said Mike Ludka, senior product manager at ORBIS Corporation. “We were honored to support such an impactful mission through the launch of the XpressBulk Milk Delivery System at ProFood Tech 2019.”
