Jungheinrich has remanufactured its 100,000th used truck at its Used Equipment Center in Dresden, Germany. The anniversary truck, an ETV 216i, was handed over to Italian logistics service provider MVN during a ceremony yesterday. The so-called JUNGSTARS truck was prepared for its next use in accordance with the defined Jungheinrich 5-star quality standard. With this milestone, Jungheinrich underlines its commitment to the circular economy in material handling.

“100,000 remanufactured trucks represent a special milestone for us and a strong testament to our team’s expertise and passion,” says Tino Alban, Plant Manager at the Dresden Used Equipment Centre. “Every single one of our used trucks demonstrates the quality inherent in Jungheinrich vehicles. It is precisely this quality that makes it possible to give industrial trucks a second use. This benefits our customers economically and supports a sustainable use of valuable resources.”

The 100,000th JUNGSTARS truck is being delivered to MVN, one of the major players in Italy for advanced fifth-party logistics and integrated logistics solutions. Since 2021, MVN and Jungheinrich have developed a strategic partnership, resulting in the delivery of more than 150 vehicles and further material handling solutions. The handover of the anniversary truck highlights the successful collaboration between the two companies and their shared commitment to combining high-performance logistics with sustainability.

“For us, sustainability is a key factor in long-term investment decisions,” says Giuliano Santi, Managing Director at MVN. “With Jungheinrich, we have a partner who supports us in making our logistics operations more efficient while using resources more responsibly. It is precisely this attitude that enables us to drive logistics evolution, turning the challenges of change into sustainable value for the future.”

Jungheinrich is a pioneer in the industrial remanufacturing of used trucks. The vehicles are restored to a technically and visually as-good-as-new condition according to either an economy- or 5-star principle. To achieve this, used industrial trucks are thoroughly inspected, safety-critical components are replaced, and other parts are refurbished or replaced. This means that up to 99 per cent of the raw materials used can be reused or recycled. In this way, Jungheinrich extends the service life of high-quality forklift trucks, conserves valuable resources and contributes to the circular economy in material handling. Compared with a new truck, remanufacturing enables CO2e savings of up to 80 per cent.

For the Klipphausen site, the remanufacturing of 100,000 used trucks marks a significant milestone. Since the Used Equipment Centre was founded in 2006, Jungheinrich has continuously professionalised its remanufacturing processes and expanded its production facilities on several occasions. Today, the plant covers more than 13,500 square metres of production space and employs 200 people.

In addition to Dresden, Jungheinrich also remanufactures used industrial trucks at its site in Ploiești (Romania). The trucks come primarily from all Jungheinrich sales units and are sent to the used equipment plants for remanufacturing at the end of their first service life.
