Smart Vision Lights promotes Steve Kinney to Director of Engineering

Smart Vision Lights (SVL), a global provider in the design and manufacture of innovative LED illumination solutions for machine vision and other applications, is pleased to announce that Steve Kinney is moving into a new role as the Director of Engineering.

Kinney brings more than 20 years of machine vision knowledge and experience in cameras, software, and lighting to Smart Vision Lights where he first headed Sales in the Western region before becoming Director of Engineering. Instrumental in the development of the machine vision industry, Kinney has also chaired AIA’s Camera Link Standard Committee and has been an instructor with AIA’s basic and advanced Certified Vision Professional (CVP) training programs.

In today’s machine vision marketplace, having the right people in the right place is crucial. Innovation is moving at a tremendously fast pace in automation, especially in machine vision and inspection. To set a pace for the market, key technology suppliers such as Smart Vision Lights are investing in plant, equipment, and people. An example of this is organizing and building the right team to support the development, marketing, and sales of new solutions.

“Smart Vision Lights has seen significant growth over the last few years, and our customers continue to ask us for more — faster. Having the right mix of capacity, capability, and most important, the right people in the right seats, is differentiating us in the market,” said Dave Spaulding, President of Smart Vision Lights.

In his new role, Steve will bring his vast amount of camera, lighting, application knowledge and experience to the team. Working alongside R&D and Marketing, Steve and his team will carry on with Smart Vision Lights’ goal to develop high-quality and innovative solutions to real customer problems. “I feel this is the perfect move for me as I can bring a sales perspective and the voice of the customer to an already amazing group of engineers. This also brings me full circle because I have an extensive engineering and machine vision background,” says Kinney.
