Orbis new containers feature more efficient, durable design

Listen to this article

ORBIS® Corporation, an international manufacturer of reusable packaging and supply chain optimization expert, is introducing an improved, more efficient design within its line of FliPak®containers. Model FP244 will increase truckload quantity and features a reinforced rim and improved plastic hinge for smoother and more efficient material handling across a range of industry supply chains. FP244 will replace an existing reusable plastic container, model FP242.

The larger container capacity and increased truckload quantity of the FP244 will reduce overall transportation costs for a measurable return on investment. Design improvements include added ribbing for better weight load distribution and a smooth flat lid for optimal weight-bearing capacity. Like many FliPak containers, FP244 is available in three bottom styles: solid drain hole, Plus + Grid™ and solid bottom to accommodate a variety of environments and applications.

“Our FliPak line is used to securely hold and transport a variety of merchandise, such as pharmaceuticals, periodicals, apparel, automotive parts and accessories, hardware, and health and beauty care, depending on the model and size,” said Lynsey Madison, product manager for ORBIS Corporation. “The FP244 is a valuable addition to the product line — a 53-foot truckload now can fit 3,520 FP244 containers, as compared to 2,860 FP242 units, increasing the amount transported per trip by 660 containers.”

Additional features include:

  • Improved truckload capacity: Increased to 3,520 containers per 53-foot truck trailer
  • Decreased labor costs: Eliminates the setup and disposal of corrugated shipping boxes
  • Safe lids: Loads are secured with interlocking lids and optional lid snaps
  • High product clearance: 11.5-inch container height allows for more product in each container
  • Compatibility: Compatible with ORBIS’ FP243, FP242 and other 2717-12 competitive totes

The FliPak containers are designed to be reusable alternatives to corrugated shipping boxes. The containers can be used more than 250 times for a cost-saving addition to any logistics operation. The main features of the FliPak line include interlocking lids, attached with heavy reinforced hinges, to cover and prevent product loss; coating within the perimeters to protect against material breakage and cracking; and closed pocket hand grips for quick, convenient grasping and releasing. The totes also are built to stack when filled and nest when empty to increase space on manufacturing floors, in warehouses and on distribution trucks.

FP244 is available in the following dimensions:

  • Outside dimensions
    • Top: 26.9” x 16.9”
    • Bottom: 24.4” x 14.7”
  • Inside dimensions
    • Top: 25.2” x 15.5”
    • Bottom: 23.6” x 13.9”
