C3 Solutions, an information technology company specialized in yard management and dock scheduling systems announces the release of its latest White Paper entitled The Internet of Things and the Modern Supply Chain.

The Internet of Things is a term we’ve all heard quite a bit in the past year or so.

It’s frequently mentioned in the same breath as supply chain, with the common observation that it will significantly impact supply chain operations. Devices that are always connected open the possibility of knowing where they are at all times. This can lead to effective real-time shipment tracking and improved inventory visibility. The tracking ability dovetails into asset management and better fleet management. It means avoiding empty miles, calculating more efficient routes for trucks, and organizing precise schedules for pick-ups and deliveries.

“The potential for IoT supply chain applications is huge. The exciting thing is that with the recent availability of massive amounts of data, coupled with connected intelligent devices, the possibilities are endless. In fact the real killer app probably hasn’t even been dreamed up yet,” states author Gregory Braun, Senior Vice-President, Sales & Marketing.

This whitepaper clarifies what is meant by the Internet of Things (IoT) and will identify some of the ways in which it is expected to or already is transforming supply chain operations. It will also offer some suggestions on how to best leverage IoT opportunities in your business.
