Electronic Components Industry Associstion (ECIA)’s Dallas meeting speakers addressed a packed room at the Sheraton DFW Airport Hotel on Tuesday, August 7th. ECIA’s Don Elario, Vice President of Industry Practices moderated a panel focused on how and when to implement recent tariff increases, industry regulations affecting quality, and doing business in the great state of Texas. Panelists included  TTI‘s Chris Goodman, CFO and Kevin Sink, VP of Quality.  James Hines, SVP Advocacy and In-House Counsel of Texas Association of Business added his thoughts on the upcoming Texas legislative session decisions that affect the State’s economic development tools. Don leads ECIA’s Global Industry Practices Council (GIPC), a non-competitive, collaborative group of industry leaders who recognize common, global problems and industry issues, and then formally organize committees to discover, leverage and guide solutions that enable operational efficiencies throughout the electronic components global authorized channel..

Randy Lawson, IHS Markit also spoke about “Blockchain and Semiconductors: Quantifying the opportunity.” With a projected 10 billion more devices connecting to the Internet in the next four years, it’s more important than ever to verify and trust the complex relationships between devices and the services they enable. Blockchain is seeing increased adoption across a number of industries. Attendees heard about how semiconductors are helping to enable blockchain technology adoption and implementation and where opportunities exist to help sell more electronics.
“Interest in these topics, especially implementing the tariffs, has dramatically accelerated among our members and this meeting helped attendees hear about the latest thinking about the implications,” commented Debbie Conyers, ECIA Vice President of Member Engagement. “And of course, I personally enjoyed connecting with the Dallas area membership community, who are always warm and welcoming to our events.”
