NMHG steps up to the plate with donation to United Way

NACCO Materials Handling Group, Inc. (NMHG) donated $6,000 to the United Way of Pitt County based on the number of homeruns hit by the East Carolina University (ECU) baseball team during the 2014 season. A $250 donation was made for each of the 24 homeruns.

At one of the last regular-season ECU baseball games against the University of Texas at San Antonia, NMHG presented the United Way of Pitt County with a check for $5,000 based on the number of homeruns hit to that point. NMHG’s Joe Suttman presented the check to John Bacon, director of development for United Way of Pitt County. The ECU Pirates rounded out the season with four additional homeruns, bringing the donation to $6,000 for the season.

“Being a strong community partner is an important corporate value for NMHG,” said Brett Schemerhorn, vice president of marketing for NMHG. “United Way of Pitt County serves so many in our community and that’s why NMHG, in working with the ECU football, basketball and baseball teams, has donated more than $360,000 to this essential community-focused organization over the past four academic years.”
