Crown Equipment and Momatt launch training program in Mexico

Crown Equipment Corporation and Momatt announced the first Demonstrated Performance® (DP) Service Training program for forklift service technicians in Mexico. Initial projections are that more than 250 service technicians will complete a two-week training program within the first year.

Training will be at Momatt’s new Toluca facility that opened in June 2014. Momatt’s Service Training instructors completed preparation using service technician modules and instructor education at the Crown Lift Trucks Dallas sales, service and regional training facility.

“We’ve enjoyed a strong relationship with Crown for more than 42 years, and we always have been impressed with the company’s hands-on approach to training and how it results in high quality customer service,” said Lourdes Saldaña, president, Momatt. “When we had an opportunity to create a training facility in Mexico, we wanted to work with Crown to ensure our technicians were receiving the same level of training that they would receive at one of Crown’s facilities.”

Saldaña and Justin Moore, regional training manager, Crown Equipment, collaborated to set parameters for the Momatt center regarding Crown lift truck inventory, service and safety tools, and trainer certification requirements. Momatt service technicians will each spend approximately 80 hours at the Momatt DP Service Training center each year for skill development.

Moore added, “With Crown’s Demonstrated Performance service training, participants demonstrate their learned skills and are provided feedback from their instructors; they show that they truly understand our forklifts and have developed the skills they need to be good technicians. We’re proud to work with Momatt in their development of a skill based training program for their technicians, which provides measureable results. This partnership strengthens Crown’s global goal of providing exceptional customer care and service for customers.”

Crown offers comprehensive forklift operator and service technician training programs to promote safety and improve productivity. More than 1,800 service technicians are trained each year at Crown’s six regional training facilities in California, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio and Texas.
