The new series of wheel bearings improves bearing life up to 40% and provides a 12% reduction in push forces Hamilton Caster has announced the launch of its new ZPI™ (Zero-Fix Precision Integrated) Ball Bearings, a new series of wheel bearings designed to extend service life, improve wheel rollability, and simplify assemblies across Hamilton’s vast caster & wheel product line. Designed and engineered in-house, the new ZPI™ bearing rethinks traditional industrial wheels with metric precision ball bearing by eliminating the top hat bushings that introduce friction, wear, and long-term performance degradation. By allowing the wheel to roll more efficiently around a stationary inner ring, the ZPI™ design significantly reduces fretting and ball sliding—two major contributors to premature bearing failure in conventional assemblies. The integrated design improves lead time and simplifies assembly at Hamilton’s USA factory. Durability testing revealed bearing life improvements exceeding 40%, directly extending the service life of both the bearing and the overall caster assembly. Performance testing further demonstrated a 10–14% reduction in start-up and sustained rolling force, delivering measurable improvements in maneuverability and ergonomic performance under load. The ZPI™ bearing Series consists of (6) variations accommodating axle sizes: ½”, ¾”, 1”, & 1-1/4”. In addition to overall performance improvements, the new bearings feature a distinctive red seal for quick visual identification, along with clear product markings that support traceability and quality assurance throughout the supply chain. The new bearings began shipping this month and are now offered across 80% of Hamilton’s product line at no cost impact, delivering immediate performance gains to customers. Check out Hamilton’s complete line of industrial wheels here.

Hamilton Caster, introduces its new Drive Wheel Series. For decades, Hamilton has been providing wheels with keyed shafts for thousands of industrial drive system applications. The existing high volume, combined with the higher demand caused by growth in industrial automation, has precipitated the establishment of a new comprehensive product offering. This new series delivers the same proven durability and performance in an easy-to-specify format requiring less effort and shorter lead times. “By pre-engineering and offering our most popular drive wheel configurations, we’re giving our customers faster access to high-performance wheels that are still built to Hamilton’s industry-leading standards,” said Mark Lippert, President at Hamilton Caster. “At the same time, we’re continuing to offer fully custom solutions for unique applications.” Available in diameters ranging from 4″ to 12″, Hamilton drive wheels are designed with extra-large hubs to endure the most demanding industrial applications. The new Drive Wheel Series features three wheel types, each available in a range of diameters and keyway sizes, and even includes two set screws for secure mounting: Duralast® Wheels – Featuring a durable, liquid-cast polyurethane tread chemically bonded to an iron core, Duralast® provides excellent traction, wear resistance, and floor protection—ideal for drive applications requiring quiet, cushioned rolling. Single Flange Track Wheels – Built from steel or cast iron and designed to run on flat track systems, these wheels offer guided directional control and are commonly used in rail-based systems or production-line setups. V-Grooved Wheels – Machined to run on inverted angle iron, these wheels provide consistent tracking and are self-cleaning by design. A partial flat tread allows smooth rolling on flat surfaces when needed. Whether you’re designing new drive wheel applications or need replacements, Hamilton’s new drive wheel product offering is designed to meet the most common industrial specs while still offering room for customization when needed. “We’re excited to bring our customers a standard drive wheel series that offers the same Hamilton toughness they rely on—now with faster availability,” added Lippert. “It’s a smarter way to spec a drive wheel—built for longevity, backed by strength, and ready for action.”

Attendees of The ARA Show 2025 had a lot on their hands. Before the tradeshow opening, talks on what the Future of Equipment Rental may entail started with April Rinne discussing “Leading and Thriving in Uncertainty.” Educational tracks followed the day after, including lessons learned, rental business strategies, and insights into leadership. Hosted by the American Rental Association, The ARA Show 2025 was held in Las Vegas from January 30 to February 1. The ARA Show 2026 moves to March 2-5 in Orlando, Florida. While the majority of exhibitors were found in the West Hall, one of the more unique features of the Las Vegas Convention Center is an outside location. Set just a short walk across the hallway in the “Diamond” lot; exhibitors had a chance to demo their machines live and stretch their lifts to height. The space included outdoor meeting areas, locations to allow attendees to find some much-needed reprieve by playing a round or two of pickleball or cornhole (bag toss), plus a massive tent providing some shade from the concrete desert sun. Inside spanned everything rental stores could think about providing – from events, technology, and software to equipment and more. The general session kicked Thursday off with welcoming speeches from the current ARA President, Jeff Crotto, ARA’s CEO, Tony Conant, CAE, and ARA Board President-Elect Robert Pedersen, with an entertaining keynote from CBS News Sunday Morning Correspondent David Pogue. Pogue walked us through the current state of artificial intelligence and explained some of the latest news (even some changes from the night before). We even had some fun with image and music generation. Making its official debut for the U.S. market, Magni announced its new rotator telehandler model TH 6.19 (3.6), which promises to be a game changer for rental companies. As the company’s most compact fixed telescopic handler, the compact design, advanced safety features, and performance should provide versatility for equipment rentals looking to maximize their fleet’s utilization. Even though it has a compact design, Magni spared no expense on the performance or comfort features. The pressurized cab includes standard A/C, heat, radio and Bluetooth connectivity, and more. One of JLG’s goals for their electric equipment is to match the duty cycle of their fueled-equivalent machines. Continuing at this goal, the company featured many of its more popular models for equipment rental and allowed rental professionals a first-hand look at their latest. Launched its EC6000AJ boom lift just a week earlier during World of Concrete (Jan. 21-23), its compact design allows it to fit two on a trailer, helping equipment rental transport significantly. It boasts an unrestricted platform capacity of 550 lbs. (750 lbs. restricted) with an up-and-over height capability of 27 ft. 1 in. Manitou featured two launches at their ARA 2025 booth. One is their entry into the scissor lift market with the SE1932 and SE2632 to add to their lifting offerings. In total, the company now has 26 different “lifting” machines. Using lessons learned from their other machines, Manitou’s scissor lifts feature an electric-drive system with steering in front for quick, precise operation. Manitou is known for smooth controls, and operators should find this to maintain continuous familiarity between machines. They are capable of both indoor and outdoor work, and both feature a basket capacity of 507 lbs. for job site versatility. The compact design, zero turn footprint, and standard extendable three-position working platform (up to 8 ft. 4 in. by 2 ft. 5.5 in.) make it extremely versatile in providing stable access in all applications. JCB launched a new backhoe loader at ARA 2025. The 3CX Pro is their top-of-the-line model featuring every bell and whistle you can think of. As quoted in the official release, “JCB’s latest backhoe loaders build on a legacy of innovation, offering solutions that empower operators to be more productive,” says James Gill, product manager at JCB North America. “These machines represent the perfect blend of advanced technology and operator-focused design, reaffirming our dominance in the global backhoe market.” One of the most essential things for any piece of equipment is the need for strong tires to support the work it needs to do. OTR knows this and announced their new LiftBoss A/T all-terrain tire for lift equipment, which will continue to fill out their product line for customers. The central portion of LiftBoss A/T is the same as other OTR tires; they’ve designed a new aggressive tread pattern.

OTR Engineered Solutions (OTR) and Pressure Systems International (P.S.I.) have partnered to bring tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) to the off-road market. OTR will offer P.S.I.’s TireView® system in its full line of pneumatic tire and wheel assemblies to monitor tire pressures and provide telematics. OTR will also be an integrator of this technology for OEM customers, helping manufacturers seamlessly implement the product into their equipment offerings. The TireView offering includes sensors that detect pressure and temperature in each tire. Real-time data can be viewed on an optional in-cab display, through a smartphone app, or integrated into the dash of the vehicle, allowing drivers to verify correct inflation and overall tire health, with alerts for quickly identifying potential issues. Additionally, telematics capabilities allow fleet managers and rental centers to view tire and location data remotely through the TireView LIVE™ portal for tracking their vehicle assets and monitoring tires. Installation and setup are simple, thanks to plug-and-play functionality. “P.S.I. recognizes OTR as a leading innovator when it comes to off-the-road tire and wheel technologies and is proud to partner with them to offer TireView’s TPMS sensors to their customer base. Real-time tire pressure and temperature alerts are important for vehicles of all types and configurations, and with the addition of TireView LIVE telematics, OTR and P.S.I. can now offer a fleet-wide solution for tire management,” said Craig Smith, Vice President of Marketing and Communications, P.S.I. The collaboration creates synergies between OTR’s expertise in the off-road tire market and P.S.I.’s leadership in the on-highway segment. It offers numerous benefits to drivers and equipment managers in various industries, including construction, rental, material handling, power sports, and more, helping to increase safety and maximize the service life of tires. “OTR is excited to announce our relationship with P.S.I. in the off-highway space,” said Ben Brown, Global VP of OEM Sales & Marketing for OTR. “P.S.I. is an industry leader and expert in TPMS technology. Pairing that with OTR’s robust tire design, wheel manufacturing, and mounting capabilities creates added value for our customers.”
