IMHX gets back to business following Government’s events announcement

The British Industrial Truck Association (BITA) and Informa Markets – joint owners of IMHX, the UK’s largest logistics and supply chain event – have welcomed the Government’s decision to allow business events and exhibitions to recommence in England from October 2020. The UK Government has also endorsed the “All Secure Standard” – a risk assessment framework for the safe delivery of live events, produced in cooperation with Informa Markets, other leading organizers, and the event industry’s trade bodies. The framework highlights the practical steps that should be taken to ensure exhibitions can operate safely and efficiently. IMHX Director, Rob Fisher, commented: “The fact that exhibitions and events are returning to the business landscape is very exciting news. Now just over a year away, IMHX 2021 will provide a welcome opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their new products and services to professionals working in the vitally important and rapidly expanding logistics and supply chain sectors. Intermodal Asia 2020 rescheduled due to Coronavirus

Officials from the Intermodal Asia 2020 has announced the show that was originally scheduled to be staged in March 2020, will now be held at the SWECC in Shanghai on July 14 – 16, 2020. “We have been closely following developments since the outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Wuhan in December 2019. First and foremost, our thoughts and support go out to our colleagues, partners and clients in China during this uncertain time.” said Rob Fisher, Group Director of Informa Markets. “After careful consultation with our joint venture partners the China Container Industry Association (CCIA), the in-depth discussion with the venue, we have taken the decision to reschedule this year’s event to ensure the safety of our visitors, exhibitors and staff. By delaying Intermodal Asia, we are providing the container shipping and intermodal sectors time to recover from any setbacks experienced as a consequence of the outbreak and its effect on global trade.” said Fisher. Mr. Huang Tianhua, President of CCIA, Vice President of CIMC Group said: “As a leader within the container shipping industry, CIMC Group’s mission is to promote the development of the global container shipping industry. We believe the postponement is a very beneficial move for the industry for several reasons: firstly, to fully consider the impact of the epidemic and ensure safety for exhibitors worldwide; secondly to provide an opportunity for firms that have been affected by the epidemic to redevelop and expand the market; and thirdly to enable the global container industry to maintain sustained and stable cooperation. “We are already preparing for the rescheduled event. We are expanding the content of the exhibition forum and working to motivate more companies to participate. We will release specific measures to promote the healthy development of the Chinese container industry and release an annual development report on China’s containers and intermodal transport. We believe our members will continue to participate and fully support the event.“ Fisher added, “We apologise for any disruption to visitor and exhibitor schedules and we trust that the intermodal community understands the reasons behind our decision.
