Company’s durable, precision-minded solutions address specific labeling and traceability requirements for printed circuit boards and various electronic components. IDENTCO, a manufacturer of high-performance labeling solutions for the power equipment, electronics, transportation, and general industrial sector, will showcase its robust range of solutions for printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic components at the IPC APEX Expo, March 18-20 in Anaheim. Products shown at the company’s Booth 2632 include a selection of sector-specific presenters and labels that meet the industry’s elevated requirements for durability, reliability, and overall quality. For starters, IDENTCO will highlight its range of high-performance label presenters. Designed for seamless integration into surface mount technology (SMT) pick-and-place machines, the presenters allow exacting, automatic placement of the company’s PPL™ pick-and-place labels. Hassle-free setup, fast label loading, and quick changeover minimize downtime, and the presenters’ precision and reliability help keep production lines running at optimized performance. Compact and durable, the presenters also mitigate cost and labor by minimizing necessary maintenance. To further showcase the benefits of these products, IDENTCO will provide live demonstrations of its IPS-45 Label Presenter, engineered for SMT applications requiring a broader range of label sizes. The IPS-45 can handle labels from 4x4mm to 27x25mm, combining reliability with much-needed flexibility in an ever-evolving production landscape. Also at IPC APEX, IDENTCO will showcase the aforementioned PPL™ pick-and-place label series, which provides comprehensive traceability for printed circuit boards and electronic components. Providing seamless integration into SMT as well as the overall assembly process, PPL™ thermal transfer printable labels withstand harsh fluxes, advanced cleaning chemistries, and extreme temperatures that circuit boards typically encounter on each side. The labels’ durability ensures full compatibility with track & trace systems – an increasingly valuable feature for brand owners seeking enhanced internal quality control and supply chain transparency in high-value electronics production.

For pharma bottles of various shapes & sizes and will introduce a serialization module for flat cartons, and demonstrate a high-speed automated visual inspection unit for liquid-filled vials. Antares Vision Group will introduce a sophisticated new traceability solution for pharmaceutical bottles at Pack Expo, November 3-6 in Chicago. At its Booth S-3754, the company will debut the Omnivision Bottle Serialization Station for round, square or rectangular bottles commonly used in healthcare applications. Other solutions that Antares Vision Group will showcase include the debut of a standalone module for the offline serialization of flat cartons and a high-speed inspection unit for liquid-filled vials. Across Antares Vision Group’s core strengths of traceability and inspection, the solutions showcased at Pack Expo share several commonalities. Perhaps most prominently, all three solutions – and in fact, the vast majority of the company’s overall portfolio – can be deployed as integrated modules into existing production environments. This inherent agnosticism amounts to a key compatibility element that substantially simplifies incorporation. Concerning traceability specifically, the company’s ultra-secure cloud-based systems enable end-to-end “full stack” connection of the physical and digital worlds. The holistic, fully validated, preconfigured, automated platforms span serialization Levels 1 through 5, ensuring compliance and connectivity with partners and regulatory authorities. Versatile Automated Serialization Solution for Bottles Capable of handling a wide range of bottle sizes at speeds up to 300 per minute, the Omnivision Bottle Serialization Station can print unique helper codes on the top or bottom of each bottle, then perform a 360-degree reading of the unoriented bottle surface for recognition of printed serialized data and code association. This helper code is then used for subsequent manual or automatic aggregation phases, such as bundling or case packing. The system's seamless product handling ensures superior printing quality and a lateral belt system provides bottle separation. Optional topsert inspection is available. Serialization Module for Flat Cartons Also at Pack Expo, Antares Vision Group will premiere a standalone semi-automatic serialization module specifically designed to handle flat, empty cartons and boxes. The Print & Check FT performs traceability functions including marking, recording, and serialization data verification. Flat cartons are loaded into a collector, which precisely feeds the conveyor belt. Cartons are then printed, with a high-resolution camera confirming data correctness and an end-of-belt reject system removing any erroneous ones. The Print & Check FT can achieve line speeds up to 30 meters per minute, and incorporate up to four thermal inkjet printing heads. Other features include an 18.5-inch touchscreen for intuitive operation, a manual code reader for product identification and re-aggregation, adjustable rubber grips to accommodate various carton sizes, and a signaling column that monitors overall machine status. High-speed Visual Inspection & Leak Detection of Liquids in Glass Containers Antares Vision Group is also a market leader in automatic inspection solutions. At Pack Expo, the company will demonstrate an automatic Visual Rotating Inspection (VRI) system capable of inspecting up to 400 liquid-filled glass containers per minute. The machine combines sophisticated particle & cosmetic detection able to integrate with high voltage, vacuum, and headspace gas analysis (HSGA) technology-driven closure integrity verification at an exceptionally rapid production pace. The machine allows for the precise detection of cosmetic defects and particles and checks fill levels. The VRI unit can inspect liquids in a wide variety of viscosities, including water-like, oily, suspension, gel, emulsion, lyophilized, and powder products. Vials are also inspected for cosmetic defects such as crimping quality, flip-off color, neck-shoulder sidewalls, and stopper position. Molded glass and plastic containers also can be inspected for particles and cosmetic defects. Optional add-on features include code verification, optical character recognition (OCR)-optical character verification (OCR-OCV), and serialization incorporation. A split-infeed screw setup provides smooth and reliable operation, preventing undesired stops and restarts. A main floating carousel with a torque motor-driven inspection platform allows ideal cleanability and single-point product handling (from the neck), providing a constraint-free optical setup and improving detection capabilities through enhanced Field of View (FOV) and Depth of Field (DOF). Guideless conveying utilizes vacuum-operated star wheels, minimizing container breakage risks and false rejects. Changeover for star wheels and grippers is approximately 30 minutes, thanks to a guided operations sequence that does not require mechanical adjustments. Inspection reconfiguration occurs intuitively according to recipe selection.

This year’s LabelExpo, September 10-12 in Chicago, is all about sustainability. Visitors will have the opportunity to network with industry experts at North America’s largest label and packaging printing trade show. As one of the leading suppliers of sustainable solutions for the packaging industry, Henkel Adhesive Technologies will present its portfolio of pressure-sensitive adhesives certified as compatible with post-consumer recycling processes according to the test protocol of the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI). At the trade fair, the manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and functional coatings is highlighting how it plays an instrumental role in driving sustainability in the packaging industry. Henkel will be demonstrating how the manufacture of sustainable products can be put into practice with its portfolio of pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA). Henkel’s selection of hotmelt, water-based, UV and solvent-based acrylic adhesives offers high-quality bonding solutions for PSA tapes, labels, and graphics that are compliant with TLMI test protocol RCA LRP-2 for post-consumer recycling processes. Among the products featured are two label adhesives, Technomelt 4144 RE and PS 9625 RE. These well-established solutions are a part of the RE product range, which encompasses adhesives and coatings that are designed for recycling. Technomelt 4144 RE is used for general purpose labels and tapes. It shows good adhesion to a wide range of substrates, including recycled corrugated board and low-density polyethylene, as well as curved surfaces. For removable and linerless labels, Technomelt PS 9625 RE is suitable due to its repositionability and low viscosity. Both adhesives are approved for use in food packaging in accordance with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Directive 175.105. “Our approach to sustainability is to create more value in the industry while reducing our environmental footprint. As well as helping our customers to become more sustainable, we aim to continuously improve our own product portfolio. Our goal is to use our technologies to help solve current and future global environmental and social challenges,” says Ky Flamini, Commercial Business & Sales Director Tapes & Labels North America at Henkel.

Rope and Sling Specialists Ltd. (RSS) will return as a lead sponsor and take a new exhibit to LiftEx 2024, which takes place 16-17 October at London’s Olympia. See RSS at Stand 40. Having steadily grown its presence at the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association’s (LEEA) flagship event, RSS will again sponsor the water bottles and lanyards, while a larger hospitality area will be at the center of a new-look stand. The exhibit will be the same overall size as last year’s display, which was the focal point for many attendees at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool, but the concept has been revamped and built around a longer bar set against a backdrop of enhanced graphics. Lifting and lashing products will be among those given greater prominence in Olympia’s West Hall. Alan Varney, engineering services director at RSS, said: “We had a successful show in Liverpool last year, but we want to build on that this time. Visitors can expect a more immersive experience, with interesting visuals, supported by an expert team and the usual company hospitality. The jury is still out on the relocation to a less central [UK] venue, but we’re not participating in any negativity; we want to drive a crowd to our stand and give them a flavor of the best the industry has to offer in terms of lifting and rigging products, and the personalities that support it all.” Last year, at the center of the exhibit was a map, detailing all of the company’s national facilities, including the Gemmak Engineering fabrication site. Since then, RSS has recently opened a new depot in Glasgow, Scotland, fronted by Tony McAtee, operations manager, expanding a footprint north of the border created by its Grangemouth site. An additional location in Netherton, West Midlands, will be opened later this year, under Paul Smith, while another depot on the South Coast is also in the pipeline, likely to be unveiled in early 2025. That will take the total to 14 national facilities. Varney said: “We continue to be strategic in where we open our premises, steadfast in our plan to position product and expertise as close to the point of use as possible. We have wanted to expand in Scotland for a while, and putting ourselves in the city of Glasgow will enable us to more efficiently deliver services to the region. “The Midlands site is more focussed on equipment hire and serves as a hub for specialist lifting products in the middle of the country. The southern regions are generating work for our services all the time, and our existing depots are finding it a challenge to cope with that ongoing demand. All of these locations will require engineers, drivers, and hire / sales representatives.” RSS will be represented at LiftEx 2024 by Steve Hutin, managing director; Alan Varney; Paul Glover, national director of operations; and Mark Barnard, operations manager, Swansea; they will be joined by representatives of its Heathrow and Aylesford, Kent operations. The company’s LiftEx carnival will also include a presence at the LEEA Awards, which will be presented on 16 October at London’s famous Dorchester Hotel. See RSS at LiftEx Stand 40.

The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) continues its planning for this summer’s Safety 2024 Professional Development Conference and Expo, which will feature a dynamic expo that is expected to be the Society’s largest ever. ASSP’s signature workplace safety education event will take place at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver from Aug. 7-9. “Our expo is so engaging and illuminating that some safety and health professionals just come to the conference for that,” said ASSP President Jim Thornton, CSP, CIH, FASSP, FAIHA. “It’s a remarkable space that showcases the latest personal protective equipment, product innovations and professional services that can advance occupational safety and health.” ASSP’s largest expo to date was at Safety 2019 in New Orleans that involved more than 600 vendors and covered nearly 120,000 square feet. Safety 2024 is already approaching those record numbers with more than two months of preparation remaining. The largest Safety 2024 exhibitors by floor space are Ergodyne, ERGOMAT, Milwaukee Tool, SureWerx, Bulwark Protection, Applications International Corporation, GlenGuard and Protective Industrial Products. Other prominent exhibitors include Airgas, Grainger, Red Wing Brands of America, Superior Glove and VelocityEHS. The expo floor will include an expanded ASSP Career Advancement Center that has something for all attendees, not just those looking for a new position. There also will be a “Leaders in Safety Tech” area where exhibitors on the forefront of safety innovation demonstrate their advancements. Three locations on the expo floor will feature fast-paced “flash sessions” that tackle safety challenges with research, best practices and audience participation. “Our interactive expo has always been a key element of the overall in-person experience,” Thornton said. “I truly believe it’s a can’t-miss opportunity for anyone whose responsibilities include worker safety and health.” Thousands of safety and health professionals from around the world look to ASSP’s annual conference – now in its 63rd year – to advance their careers and take advantage of networking opportunities that can help elevate safety at their companies. Attendees will also be inspired, entertained and informed by popular general sessions. Safety professionals can register online and earn 1.5 continuing education units (CEUs) for career advancement. Groups from the same company can save even more on registration by contacting ASSP’s Nancy O’Toole at 847.768.3466

The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS)has announced brand-new features ahead of its upcoming trade show, NPE: The Plastics Show, taking place from May 6-10, 2024, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. NPE2024 is shaping the future of the plastics industry with the inclusion of new educational offerings such as keynote speakers and industry briefings, highlighting the Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA), and offering spaces designed for innovation and connection through Podcast Point and the Sustainability Hub. The addition of these new elements addresses the changing industry landscape and will empower plastics businesses to innovate, compete and succeed in today’s dynamic market. They will also provide every player in the industry with the knowledge and resources to thrive. “The plastics industry is evolving and everyone at NPE will be at the forefront of that change – guiding and leading it. These brand-new features like the keynotes, the Sustainability Hub and industry-specific briefings demonstrate our continued commitment to grow and strengthen the future of our industry,” said Matt Seaholm, PLASTICS President and CEO. Some of the new features debuting at NPE2024 are: Keynote Speakers: Open to all attendees, NPE will have keynote speakers whose expertise will shape the future landscape of the plastics industry. Micheal Cicco, President and CEO at FANUC America Corporation and Michael Heinz, Chair and CEO at BASF Corporation, have been confirmed as the two keynote speakers. On Monday, Cicco’s session, titled “Unlocking the Potential: Robotics, AI and Automation in the New Tech Era”, will address how robotics and automation advancements are revolutionizing the industry and explore the exciting future of human-machine collaboration. On Wednesday, Heinz’s session, titled, “Our Plastics Journey: The Road to Shaping a Sustainable Future”, will highlight industry challenges, the importance of collaboration with legislators and NGOs and provide inspiration for the future. Focused Industry Briefings: The reimagined education experience at NPE features the first-ever industry briefings, in which plastics thought leaders from the top attendee fields – automotive, building and construction, consumer goods, medical and packaging – will speak to emerging trends and technologies in their areas. Plastics industry briefings will also include market trends, future recycling forecasts and a review of the Global Plastics Treaty. OPC UA: The machine-to-machine data exchange will be demonstrated live for all NPE attendees to experience in several exhibitor booths – including Arburg, Plasmatreat, Sumitomo Demag and more. Participants can dive into Industry 4.0 and witness how OPC UA can reduce costs, increase data security and streamline manufacturing operations. Podcast Point: Designed to elevate media resources, this space gives podcasters a chance to share the excitement, learnings and solutions of NPE live from the event. Podcasts like PMM Insight, Sustainable Packaging, MMT Chats and PlastChicks will be streaming before, during and after the show, keeping the public up to date with everything happening at NPE. 3 Spark Stages: NPE’s Spark Stages – Bottling, Sustainability and Innovation – are open to all attendees and offer 30-minute educational sessions on the show floor. These sessions cover critical topics in the plastics industry, from advancements in bottling to the latest innovations in sustainability. With sessions on everything from Industry 4.0 to thermoplastic processing, there are insights for everyone in the plastics industry. Sustainability Hub: This interactive showcase tangibly illustrates the plastics circular economy and allows attendees to follow the environmental journey of plastics and the steps the industry is taking to reduce plastic waste and improve its sustainable footprint. The space will feature recycled materials, sustainable and advanced manufacturing, circularity processes, prevention and recovery efforts and more. NPE happens only once every three years, gathering the entire global plastics industry in the U.S. to share new products and insights. “With these new innovative features, NPE2024 promises to be an unparalleled event for the plastics industry, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and ultimately, a bright future for all participants and the plastics industry as a whole,” said Arlene Davis, NPE Director of Content and Attendee Experiences.
