A quarter of a century after its founding, HUBTEX UK has grown from humble beginnings in a garage to become a major player in the UK market. HUBTEX UK’s history is one of continuous growth, innovation, and a firm commitment to quality and safety. HUBTEX’s roots go back to the early 1980’s, before Malcom Manser and HUBTEX GmbH had the idea of setting HUBTEX UK. HUBTEX UK began operations in 1999 – initially in a small garage that served as a sales office. The first branch was opened in 2002, and an office with an attached workshop followed in 2004. Since then, HUBTEX UK has undergone considerable change. The company, which started as a one-man operation, now employs 16 people. In 2008, HUBTEX UK moved to its current building in Milton Keynes. Another milestone was reached when the service department was expanded to 10 technicians. The team now has the responsibility of ensuring that the vehicles are comprehensively maintained and serviced. First customers and milestones The first customers started using Hubtex side loaders as early as 1986. This model symbolizes the durability and reliability of Hubtex products. In 2004, HUBTEX UK exhibited for the first time at IMHX, a major trade fair in Birmingham. This market positioning enabled the company to expand its product range to include multidirectional forklifts and to strengthen its market presence in order picking vehicles for kitchen worktops, wood-based materials, laminate, decorative panels, aluminum and plastic profiles. Other important milestones for the company included the launch of the MaxX and FluX model lines in 2016 and the PhoeniX series in 2018. Continuous growth and longstanding relationships The last 25 years have been marked by sustainable growth and the development of long-term customer relationships with Eurocell, Epwin, Antalis, Hydro, Metsec and Co. While leasing contracts in the industry are often limited to five years, HUBTEX UK has signed numerous long-term contracts with a term of ten years, and continued agreements since the UK office opened. These partnerships are testament to the high quality of the products and services and the trust customers have in the company. “Our strength lies in the reliability and durability of our products and the vehicle safety we offer our customers. These qualities have made us a trusted partner for many companies”, says Paul McNally, Managing Director of HUBTEX UK. Looking to the future Despite the challenges posed by global events and geopolitical tensions, HUBTEX UK is optimistic about the future. The company plans to further expand its already strong position in the construction, wood, steel and plastics industries and to enter new market segments such as the automotive, aerospace and air freight industries. The vision for the coming years includes further growth in machines, customers, employees and revenue. “With strong customer and supplier relationships and a team of committed and talented employees, HUBTEX UK sees many opportunities to successfully master the challenges of the future”, concludes McNally.

The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) continues its planning for this summer’s Safety 2024 Professional Development Conference and Expo, which will feature a dynamic expo that is expected to be the Society’s largest ever. ASSP’s signature workplace safety education event will take place at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver from Aug. 7-9. “Our expo is so engaging and illuminating that some safety and health professionals just come to the conference for that,” said ASSP President Jim Thornton, CSP, CIH, FASSP, FAIHA. “It’s a remarkable space that showcases the latest personal protective equipment, product innovations and professional services that can advance occupational safety and health.” ASSP’s largest expo to date was at Safety 2019 in New Orleans that involved more than 600 vendors and covered nearly 120,000 square feet. Safety 2024 is already approaching those record numbers with more than two months of preparation remaining. The largest Safety 2024 exhibitors by floor space are Ergodyne, ERGOMAT, Milwaukee Tool, SureWerx, Bulwark Protection, Applications International Corporation, GlenGuard and Protective Industrial Products. Other prominent exhibitors include Airgas, Grainger, Red Wing Brands of America, Superior Glove and VelocityEHS. The expo floor will include an expanded ASSP Career Advancement Center that has something for all attendees, not just those looking for a new position. There also will be a “Leaders in Safety Tech” area where exhibitors on the forefront of safety innovation demonstrate their advancements. Three locations on the expo floor will feature fast-paced “flash sessions” that tackle safety challenges with research, best practices and audience participation. “Our interactive expo has always been a key element of the overall in-person experience,” Thornton said. “I truly believe it’s a can’t-miss opportunity for anyone whose responsibilities include worker safety and health.” Thousands of safety and health professionals from around the world look to ASSP’s annual conference – now in its 63rd year – to advance their careers and take advantage of networking opportunities that can help elevate safety at their companies. Attendees will also be inspired, entertained and informed by popular general sessions. Safety professionals can register online and earn 1.5 continuing education units (CEUs) for career advancement. Groups from the same company can save even more on registration by contacting ASSP’s Nancy O’Toole at 847.768.3466

LiuGong North America has added Cornerstone Equipment to its dealer network. The Dry Ridge, Kentucky-based operation sells both construction equipment and material handling products. The business started in 2009 as an industrial equipment solutions provider. It serves the agriculture, outdoor power, construction and material handling equipment industries, and its three branches help to cover the tristate area of Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. Devin Ponder, CEO, Cornerstone Equipment, has drawn upon his family’s roots and success with the business over the last 15 years. His parents, Bryan and Kathy Ponder, founded the business in 2009 after his dad worked for the region’s largest material handling dealership. He took over day-to-day operations at Cornerstone in 2020. While its roots were in forklifts, the company pivoted to its current line during the pandemic from 2020 to 2022 and expanded its operations in both Ohio and Indiana. The company is now blending its industrial equipment background with recent retail success to expand further, adding construction and material handling equipment. Ponder hailed the relationship already established with LiuGong team members during the recruitment process as Cornerstone Equipment joins the dealer network. “The vision of Cornerstone Equipment’s future and the LiuGong future in North America align perfectly,” he said. “Our team is uniquely qualified to be the market leaders in construction and material handling equipment sales, service and rental operations in the tristate area. “The broad product line offered from LiuGong covering both construction and material handling equipment fits our target customer base perfectly. The value of bringing machines with industry-leading components to market at an extraordinarily competitive price and lead time is exciting.” Andrew Ryan, President, LiuGong North America, expanded on the relationship they’ve developed and what Cornerstone Equipment can add to the dealer network. “There is a strong family history that Cornerstone Equipment has established, along with a pursuit of excellence and strong vision for what they want to achieve,” Ryan said. “It’s a great addition to our LiuGong dealer network across both construction and material handling equipment.” Jared Ward, Vice President, Material Handling, LiuGong North America, added the background they have within the material handling field will only strengthen the material handling dealer network. “The Cornerstone Equipment group has shown strong interest and dedication to serving material handling customers,” Ward said. “We look forward to growing with them in this space and we welcome their family to the LiuGong family of dealers.” Ponder closed by emphasizing the connection he has developed thus far. “The mission of LiuGong to be dealers’ preferred choice resonates with our team, and its organizational structure in North America supports that mission,” Ponder said. “Every LiuGong team member we met in Katy, Texas was truly professional; that’s something required for us to deliver the best customer experiences possible. “Lastly, LiuGong offers us the ability and opportunity to scale and expand our business on a regional level going forward and deliver excellent customer experiences for years to come.”

The LiuGong North America material handling network continues to grow with the addition of Central Oregon Forklift and Equipment. The company’s roots are based in Long Beach, California, but the business relocated to Bend, Oregon in the early 1990s. Both Dee Shields, CFO, and Dan Shields, COO, of Central Oregon, have family history working within the material handling space. LiuGong and Central Oregon connected following the discovery of a California dealer advertising in Oregon. Dan Shields noted the desire to add reliable, consistent forklifts to the Central Oregon fleet. The company sells forklifts in Oregon, California, Idaho and Washington. “We have been looking for something more affordable for our customers, and additionally, the warranty was huge for them too,” Dan Shields said. Within the first few months working together, Central Oregon expressed its thanks to LiuGong for its consistent communication. “LiuGong has been responsive and great to work with,” Shields added. “Everyone is very helpful, and we’re so thankful for that.” Jared Ward, Vice President, Material Handling, LiuGong North America, echoed Shields’ comments in noting the relationship has gotten off to a strong start. “When our team connected with the Central Oregon group, we knew they were a great potential addition to our material handling dealer network,” Ward said. “Their experience and range covering the Pacific Northwest stood out as we continue to expand our network. We’re committed to serving them with consistent, reliable forklifts.”

Lift Atlanta is the latest dealer to join the expanding LiuGong North America dealership network in the South. Leaders of the North Georgia-based business said they were looking for a new manufacturer at the end of 2022 and were intrigued by what they heard from current LiuGong dealers and their customers. “LiuGong reached out to us to see if we would be interested in the line,” said Lift Atlanta President Mark Milovich. “After talking with several LiuGong North America dealers and some end users, we liked what we heard and decided to enter into a dealer agreement with LiuGong.” Lift Atlanta is headquartered in Decatur, Georgia with an additional location in Augusta. The company was founded as a forklift dealer in 1975 by Mitchell Milovich, Lift Atlanta CEO. He brings a wealth of experience to the LiuGong North America dealer network with a background in the material handling industry since the mid-1960s. The business covers Georgia and parts of South Carolina, primarily serving recycling, concrete, lumber, and brick and block industries, as well as national retailers and shipping companies. Jared Ward, Vice President Material Handling Division, LiuGong North America, welcomed the company to the network. “As we continue to look for dealers to serve customers and key regions, it was apparent from its history that Lift Atlanta fit our needs in the material handling space,” Ward said. LiuGong North America President Andrew Ryan said Lift Atlanta is a highly respected dealer in the South, and they are looking forward to working together to expand their business in the area. “The people at Lift Atlanta know what it takes to be a reliable resource for their customers, and we know that service will extend to our products,” he said. “Their reputation with their customers will be key to expanding our dealer network and increasing sales in the region.” Milovich said Lift Atlanta seeks out trustworthy manufacturers that stand behind their products with excellent service, and the partnership with LiuGong North America is an extension of that strategy. “We try to align ourselves with quality manufacturers – ones that we, as well as our customers, can trust for quality goods and services,” he said.

The ALL Family of Companies is once again an authorized dealer for Maeda mini cranes. ALL is also adding 13 Maeda spider cranes to its own fleet. ALL’s exclusive territory for Maeda sales covers the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. ALL will sell and service Maeda’s full line including spider cranes, crawlers, and battery cranes. Widely considered the smallest crane in the world, Maeda cranes can go where other cranes simply can’t. With a width as little as two and a half feet, many can actually fit through standard doorways. The construction industry is especially fond of these small cranes for their ability to be placed high up in a structure and assist with glazing and curtainwall installation. Josh Doyle, general manager of ALT Sales Corp., the boom truck division of the ALL Family, expects construction to remain a popular market for Maeda via ALL, with other applications emerging. “The advent of Maeda battery-powered cranes opens a whole new world of indoor crane operations due to the lack of exhaust emissions,” said Doyle. “I expect those cranes to pick up work inside warehouses and for interior remodeling jobs in industrial and commercial settings.” Maeda models added to ALL’s own fleet include three MC285C spider cranes with a slim 30-inch body, 24-foot boom, and 6,210-pound maximum capacity; seven MC305C models with a 41-foot boom and max capacity of 6,560 pounds; and three MC405C spider cranes with a 55-foot boom and a max capacity of 8,480-pounds. All include multi-angle outrigger positions and rubber tracks. “The multi-angle outriggers are a game-changer. They take cranes that already could move in close due to their small size and get them that much closer to the work,” said Doyle. The Maeda spider cranes added to ALL’s own fleet are being deployed throughout the four states in which ALL is an authorized dealer, so customers unfamiliar with the product can see their performance for themselves. Japanese-made Maeda originally carved out a niche for itself with its small, versatile spider cranes. It has made a push into the U.S. market with the formation of Maeda America Inc., headquartered in Houston, Texas.

Casey Equipment is the latest Midwest dealer to join the rapidly expanding LiuGong North America dealership network. Leaders of the third-generation family-owned business said joining the lineup has been a smooth, straightforward process because of stellar communication and planning from LiuGong. The initial launch of LiuGong products at Casey Equipment went “virtually flawlessly with all of their support.” “From day one, we knew exactly who to contact for our initial needs and requirements,” said Jim Cox, Casey Equipment President. “We also felt confident that everyone from their president and CEO on down was engaged in getting us started on the right foot.” Casey Equipment is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois with three dealerships in Arlington Heights, Lemont, and Rockford. The company has served the Chicago and northwest Indiana areas for more than 45 years. We plan to grow right along with our customers.” The Palm Bay branch specializes in the rental of aerial lifts, telescopic forklifts, earthmoving machinery, compaction equipment, generators, compressors, and more and represents the following manufacturers: Allmand, Atlas Copco, Bomag, Case, Club Car, Cushman, Doosan, Gehl, Generac Mobile, Genie, Hilti, Husqvarna, JCB, JLG, John Deere, Kubota, LayMor, Ledwell, Lincoln Electric, Link-Belt Excavators, MEC, Miller, Multiquip, Polaris, Skyjack, SkyTrak, Sullair, Sullivan-Palatek, TAG, Taylor, Towmaster Trailers, Wacker Neuson, Yanmar, and others.
