The American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) has announced the 2025 recipients of its Humanitarian Logistics Awards. “Over the last 20 years, we’ve often said that when bad things happen, good people show up. That’s what these awards are all about,” said ALAN Executive Director Kathy Futon. “Throughout the years and over the course of many disasters, all of our award recipients have repeatedly stepped up to help without ever asking what’s in it for them – and truly gone above and beyond to assist disaster survivors.” This year’s honorees include: Continental Logistics, which received ALAN’s Outstanding Contribution To Disaster Relief Award Fleet Advantage, which received ALAN’s Employee Engagement Award Niagara Cares, which received ALAN’s Employee Engagement Award Partners Warehouse, a Flex Logistics company, which received ALAN’s Outstanding Contribution To Disaster Relief Award Dr. Burcu Balçik of Ozyegin University, who received ALAN’s Research And Academic Contributions Award And ALAN’s founders, who received ALAN’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Continental Logistics earned its award for providing $11,000 worth of the pro bono transportation that was needed to deliver donated goods to numerous food banks, community centers and other humanitarian organizations that served more than 173,000 individuals after Hurricane Helene, the Los Angeles wildfires and other disasters. Fleet Advantage was honored for the charitable work of its employees through its Kids Around The Corner Foundation, which served 51 non-profit organizations and helped with relief efforts after disasters such as Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton during 2024. Throughout the year, the company hosted eight volunteer events, making it possible for its personnel to directly help the communities where they live and work. These volunteers’ efforts included assembling and distributing over 2,000 meals and hygiene kits; assisting with hurricane relief efforts; providing more than 100 Easter baskets; and collecting and assembling 200 backpacks with necessary school supplies for people in need. Niagara Cares received its award for mobilizing hundreds of its employees to support relief efforts in California’s Palisades and Altadena areas after the Los Angeles wildfires, including assembling care packages for first responders; creating hygiene and care kits for displaced residents; and painting murals, building learning gardens and planting trees to restore a sense of hope and re-beautify areas that were damaged by the fires. Partners Warehouse, a Flex Logistics company, was honored for providing ALAN with the donated long-term warehousing space and logistics support it needed to accept the largest material equipment donation in its history – 80 pallet jacks. These jacks, which ALAN has been using to assist nonprofits with their Hurricane Helene, Arkansas Tornado and other relief efforts, have already enabled these humanitarian organizations to serve more than 700,000 individuals in need. Balçkik was lauded for her pioneering work in data-driven decision-making during the preparedness, response and recovery phases of humanitarian operations. Her research in areas such as stock pre-positioning, last-mile aid planning, supplier framework agreements and needs assessment planning as well as her collaboration with researchers from around the world have led to many tangible gains in disaster preparedness, coordination and fairness. Finally, ALAN’s founders and founding organizations — seven individuals and nine professional associations or nonprofits –were recognized for creating ALAN in 2005 and providing ALAN with ongoing support ever since. Over the past two decades, ALAN has served more than 300 non-profit organizations across more than 100 disasters, delivering free logistics services, equipment and expertise that have been valued at missions of dollars and benefitting the lives of approximately 10 million people. “Each of these recipients exemplifies what selfless logistics is all about – all while reminding us of the incredible good the supply chain community can do,” Fulton said. “We’re thankful for their generosity, inspired by their example, and honored to give them the recognition they so deeply deserve.”

For the 34th consecutive year, Carolina Handling has been named a Dealer of Distinction (DOD) by The Raymond Corporation, a global provider of best-in-class material handling equipment and intelligent intralogistics solutions. The DOD award recognizes the top performers among Raymond Solutions and Support Centers throughout North America. Carolina Handling, the exclusive Raymond Solutions and Support Center for the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama and Florida’s Central time zone, also received two Diamond Elite awards for attaining the highest market share among all Raymond dealers for Class I forklifts at 30.1 percent and highest market share for combined Class I-III forklifts at 34.7 percent. Being named a Dealer of Distinction is based on points scored in categories covering virtually all business areas, including sales, service, parts, rentals, leasing, power, and intralogistics solutions. The award signifies a company’s strength in the marketplace and operational excellence that drives growth and continuous improvement. “Carolina Handling’s continuing recognition as a Dealer of Distinction is a testament to our ongoing ability to adapt to the changing needs of our customers and the material handling industry’s significant shift toward automation,” said Carolina Handling President CEO Brent Hillabrand. “Our associates embrace that shift and approach it with a growth and continuous improvement mindset.” As technology advances in the material handling industry, Carolina Handling continues its movement from a forklift-only provider to an end-to-end intralogistics solutions company. It offers a broad range of consulting, connected technologies, material-handling equipment, and services to support the industry’s growing and changing needs. A leading material-handling integrator, Carolina Handling, received the 2025 Most Valuable Partner (MVP) Award earlier this year from the Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA), a recognition achieved by fewer than 10 percent of MHEDA’s 600 members.

BIG Sustainability, Green GOOD DESIGN and Global Good award programs commend innovative zero-emission container handling solution Hyster has announced that its hydrogen fuel cell-powered ReachStacker has been recognized by three award programs, adding to the list of accolades the company has earned for its efforts to help operations decarbonize by making the shift to electric material handling equipment. The solution, which produces zero tailpipe emissions, is being tested and validated at the MSC terminal in Valencia, Spain, one of the largest container terminals in Europe. “Industries that have typically relied upon diesel-powered equipment, such as ports, are increasingly seeking electric alternatives that satisfy emissions regulations from governments and ambitious targets companies are setting themselves,” says Lucien Robroek, President, Technology Solutions Division, Hyster. “This ReachStacker, as well as the award-winning hydrogen fuel cell-powered top-pick container handler and recently announced electric terminal tractors, are proof positive that Hyster is committed to working closely with customers to develop clean power solutions that provide the productivity that these applications require.” The ReachStacker was named one of the year’s best sustainable products by the BIG Sustainability Awards. Judged by experts on environmental impact, the program honors products that are designed to be more eco-friendly than market alternatives. The container handler also won a Green GOOD DESIGN Award, identifying it as one of the year’s best sustainable transportation solutions. The program honors companies and products that are driving progress toward a healthier and more sustainable world. The solution is also a finalist for the Global Good Awards in the Game-Changing Innovation of the Year category, alongside Microsoft and other major companies. The Global Good Awards reward businesses, nongovernmental organizations, charities and social enterprises that are blazing the trail for purpose-driven sustainability and ethical leadership. The hydrogen fuel cell-powered ReachStacker uses Nuvera®Fuel Cell Engines to convert hydrogen into electricity. The hydrogen is stored on board in high-pressure tanks and can be refilled in 10-15 minutes. The onboard hydrogen fuel cell charges the batteries and powers the electric motors and hydraulic systems, enabling the ReachStacker to lift laden containers with performance similar to that of a diesel-powered alternative. The pilot program is supported by the H2Ports project. H2Ports is funded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH-JU), coordinated by the Fundación Valenciaport, and involves several partners from the port community, industry and academia.

Bobcat Company recognized Forklifts Group as a top-performing material handling equipment dealer with a Diamond award at MODEX 2024. Dealers are recognized annually by Bobcat Company for their outstanding efforts and commitment within their respective regions. This year, Bobcat recognized 21 material-handling dealers based on sales, volume and other dealer engagement metrics. Forklifts Group was recognized at a reception held during MODEX 2024, the premier supply chain experience trade show in Atlanta, Georgia. “We are pleased to recognize such a deserving group of dealerships for their efforts and achievements,” said Jarrod Steck, Bobcat vice president of material handling products. “While forklifts are a new product offering within the Bobcat portfolio, these dealerships bring years of expertise and experience within the material handling industry, and we are thrilled to award these top performers and valued dealer partners.” Bill St. John, President of Forklifts Group, accepted the award on behalf of the entire organization. “I would like to thank Bobcat Material Handling for the recognition of our dealership’s outstanding performance with the prestigious Bobcat Diamond Award,” St. John said. “We are extremely proud to represent the Bobcat product and thankful for the support you provide.

For the 33rd year in a row, Carolina Handling has been named a Dealer of Distinction (DOD) by The Raymond Corporation. The DOD award is given annually to the top performers among Raymond Solutions and Support Centers throughout North America. Carolina Handling, the exclusive Raymond Solutions and Support Center for the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama and Florida’s Central time zone territory, is among only seven Raymond dealers to receive the designation for 2024. Being named a Dealer of Distinction is based on points scored in categories covering virtually all areas of the business including sales, service, parts, rentals, leasing, power and intralogistics solutions. The award signifies strength in the marketplace and operational excellence that drives growth and continuous improvement. “Carolina Handling’s DOD performance year after year is an endorsement of the elite level of service and support that we provide our customers,” said Carolina Handling President & CEO Brent Hillabrand. “The top scores consistently received in so many different areas of the business are a testament to our associates and the teamwork that allows us to achieve a high level of success, even as the material handling industry continues to evolve.” A continuing U.S. labor shortage and customer demands to meet an ever-growing consumer thirst for online shopping have spurred exponential growth in the warehousing and distribution segment, with an emphasis on new technology and automation to move products faster and more efficiently. As the material handling industry constantly evolves, Carolina Handling continues its evolution from a forklift-only provider to an end-to-end intralogistics solutions company offering a broad range of consulting, connected technologies, material handling equipment and service to support the growing and changing needs of the industry. A leading material handling equipment supplier in the Southeast, Carolina Handling this past January received the 2024 Most Valuable Partner (MVP) Award from the Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA), a recognition achieved by fewer than 10 percent of MHEDA’s 600 members.
