Combilift is a winner at this year’s IFOY Awards 2020– one of the most prestigious and hotly contested international awards in the materials handling industry that honors the best products and solutions of the year. The company won the Warehouse Truck Lowlifter Category with its innovative Combi-CS pedestrian counterbalance stacker. The Combi-CS is the only pedestrian counterbalance stacker that will operate in a conventional reach truck aisle for space-saving and productive storage and handling. It features Combilift’s unique, internationally patented and award-winning multi-position tiller arm which can be turned to the left or right of the unit to position the rear drive wheel, allowing the operator to remain in the safest position- at the side of the machine rather than at the rear as is the case with other pedestrian stackers. This ensures optimum visibility of the load and surroundings as well as guaranteeing maximum safety in areas where other personnel or members of the public may be present. Due to the current circumstances, the hundreds of people that normally attend the IFOY ceremony could not get together personally, so the organizers rolled out the virtual red carpet for the winners on the Internet on July 13, 2020 at www.ifoy.org. IFOY founder and Executive Chairperson of the IFOY Jury Anita Würmser said: “Special times require special solutions and this year’s IFOY Awards were dedicated to the best innovations in intralogistics and moreover to the people who make intralogistics happen.” Finalists’ products underwent stringent IFOY audit and innovation checks by industry experts and journalists from leading logistics media from 19 countries also tested and evaluated the equipment for qualities such as technology, design, ergonomics, safety, marketability, customer benefit, and sustainability. Some of the jury’s comments on the Combi-CS were as follows: “The Combi-CS is a really compact smart pedestrian operated truck and a nice hands-on solution. It offers significant added value in terms of narrow aisle operation and safety in confined environments. It is a customer-focussed solution with a very high level of market relevance.” Combilift CEO and Co-founder Martin McVicar said: “On behalf of the whole Combilift team I am delighted to receive the IFOY 2020 Award and proud that this innovative product has been recognized as a valuable solution for the intralogistics sector. We extend our thanks to the IFOY jury for selecting us for this important award.”

Monaghan, Ireland based manufacturer Combilift is among the sixteen intralogistics providers nominated for the final round of assessments for the IFOY AWARD 2020 (International Intralogistics and Forklift Truck of the Year). The shortlisted candidates will take part in the group test days undertaken by an expert jury next month in Hannover, Germany and for the first time in the newly established IFOY TEST CAMP decision-makers in intralogistics are participating. In this the eighth running of the world-renowned award program, the jury will scrutinise 17 products and solutions from 16 manufacturers from an original field of 32 companies, to compete for the best intralogistics products and solutions of the year. In the early days of the competition it focused solely on forklifts but has expanded significantly to include all that happens within the logistics sector in and around the warehouse or distribution centre. Starting with warehouse trucks and custom-made products for the most diverse material flow tasks, through robots, drones and software to reach stackers, well-known brand names are in the final round, such as Bosch Rexroth, Crown, Easy Mile, Geek+, Hyster, Jungheinrich, ProGlove, Raymond, Sany Europe, Still and Toyota Material Handling as well as the start-ups cellumation, doks. innovation, ForkOn and Wiferion. The Combi-CBE4 from Combilift is nominated in the Special Vehicles category. Its four-ton electric forklift truck with all-wheel drive combines multi-directionality and a compact design, while the CombiCS Combilift is among the selection for Warehouse Truck “lowlifter” class. This pedestrian operated truck has been developed for pallet transport in very confined spaces. Thanks to a special tiller arm and a compact design, the vehicle, which is only 1.05 metres long, ensures safe operation and good visibility for the operator. All finalists go through to the IFOY 2020 Audit at the international IFOY 2020 TEST DAYS from February 6 to 13 at the exhibition grounds of the Hannover Messe. In the IFOY Test, experts measure the key figures of each contender’s products in a standardized procedure. And in the IFOY Innovation Check scientists assess the innovative value of the nominated products and solutions. The Innovation Check is carried out by specialists from the Dortmund Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML), the Chair of Technical Logistics at the University of Dresden and the Chair of Materials Handling, Material Flow and Logistics (fml) at the Technical University of Munich. Towards the end of the IFOY TEST DAYS, jurors from all over Europe, Australia, Brazil and Russia will travel to Lower Saxony to inspect the nominated products and test them. Among other things, the judges will assess the innovative value, technology, design, ergonomics and handling, safety, marketability and customer benefit as well as economic efficiency and sustainability. The jury consists of 27 renowned trade journalists from leading logistics media in 19 countries. “A golden rule of the IFOY test series is that the finalists in their respective categories are not compared with each other, but with their competitors on the market. Only those nominees who outperform their direct competitors in terms of innovation have a chance to reach the highest podium position,” explained Anita Würmser, Chairperson of the IFOY Jury. The trophies will be awarded in seven categories during the IFOY 2020 AWARDs Gala Banquet on April 20th at the Hannover Messe 2020.
