NACCO Materials Handling Group, Inc. (NMHG) has donated $28,900 to the United Way of Pitt County based on the number of three-point baskets scored by the East Carolina University (ECU) basketball team during the 2013-2014 season. At the final regular-season ECU home basketball game against the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on Feb. 27, NMHG presented the United Way of Pitt County with a check for $23,400 based on the number of three-pointers made to that point. NMHG representative Joe Suttman presented the check to Jim Cieslar and John Bacon from the United Way of Pitt County.
ECU scored 55 three-pointers during the 2013-2014 season and Conference USA tournament, bringing the NMHG United Way donation to $28,900. NMHG is in its fourth year working with ECU athletics to benefit the United Way and has donated over $355,000 through the program to date. “ECU basketball came through with a lot of three-pointers this season, resulting in a slam dunk for the United Way of Pitt County,” said
