Spartan Logistics announced Steve Harmon will be assuming leadership of the company, as his father, Ed Harmon, steps down after 22 years of running the company. Harmon was a CPA and manager for a major accounting firm, while helping his father start the company. His initial role at Spartan was designing, planning and implementing accounting and inventory control systems. With more than 15 years of experience managing, pricing, planning and controlling logistics operations, along with his experience managing financing and lending relationships, his move from chief financial officer of Spartan, to managing director, was a natural transition.
Under Harmon’s leadership, the warehouse and distribution provider will continue to maintain a focus on the handling of food grade materials, glass, paper, and fragile/ high value products. Spartan’s services include order processing, industrial real estate operations and construction, storage, and data integration with customers. In addition to warehousing, Spartan will continue to provide full-service transportation, allowing Spartan to provide seamless pick-up, storage and delivery to its customers. Ed Harmon will continue as chairman of the Board of Directors, and will remain active in the community and as a driving visionary in the logistics industry.
